My point above was that it will be difficult to compete. You may, indeed, have all the relevant information about the cars you import, and that information may be impressive, but it doesn’t mean that a similar car on a dealer’s lot somewhere isn’t equally good, even if there’s no such information about it to compare.
If it is your plan to import used cars to market to upscale buyers, I think you will be appealing to a very small audience. And some of them will prefer to purchase new from local dealers while others will take their chances with less expensive used vehicles on dealers’ lots.
I wonder just how much additional profit can be built into one of the deals you envision to make the risk worthwhile?
I just wrote a similar post…although not so eloquently…then changed my mind about posting it.
Unless, you have money to tie up waiting for a buyer, I would advise you to rethink this idea.
Now, if you are were to offer warranty, this may be a different. But, then again, you will not know the real history, either….
Again, thank you all for the concern and advice. I’m not planning to put all of my eggs in one basket or go all in. What I can say is that I am thinking of ONE car to start with and that’s going to be from 2000 to a 2005…not so new, not so old either. I don’t think it will hurt to test the waters. Risk and reward, right?
