I am thinking of either renting or purchasing a tilapia or trout farm in CR. Any information on the best locations, availability of such farms, profitability of such busniess or any other tip would be greatly appreciated.[img][/img]
There is a ‘school’ on the so Pacific by Palamar Norte that is teaching sustainable farming and I believe fish is on the menu, ops, part of the offering.. You can check it out at http://wisecostarica.org/

Depending on why, you are considering this, you should focus more on local Ticos for purchasing Tilapia as they are the main buyers of this fish….which they more often than not, ‘deep fry’ them until it has no taste.
But many like to go and catch their own at local small restaurants. And in the countryside, they are ‘all over the place’ many just in a hole in the ground….like ours:lol:
So, if you are contemplate leasing the pond, you may have to lease the restaurant as well.

Thank you very much for the valuable information. Actually, that is one of the options I have been contemplating. Do you happen to know any that would be available? Would you be willing to share some information on yours either through this medium, through private e-mail, or over the phone? Would you post some photos of your farm and restaurant?
Best wishes
Sorry…we don’t have a restaurant, just the ’hole in the ground' Tilapia pond on the farm.
