YEP;
diesel 12, I call them the 3 musketeers
We Love Costa Rica has turned into the UN forum.
The topic was Intel but we always go into the USA bashing by residents in CR that cannot vote in the USA.
:roll::roll: Neither can they vote in CR, LOL
Scott won’t change his view towards the USA when the pressing problems in CR are evident
I come to this forum and analize about 30% of the posts because the rest 70% are not related to CR. I attribute this failure rate to the owner of this forum.
The topic is Intel and CR, can we go back to it??
A -5% GDP last year and approaching 6 this year, are we talking about a compounded deficit??
October 20, 2011 at 11:36 pm #204765diesels12MemberWhat is also apparent is the owner of this forum is alienating a large portion of the clientele of this website with his bizarre political views and the USA bashing. I would venture to say most of the people who read this site are Americans and there can be no upside to constantly demeaning the USA. It will also drive people away from the site as I am sure most of the members do not log on to hear Scotts theories on the evils of the USA. This would be unfortunate as the site benefits from having multiple points of view on things concerning COSTA RICA.
I too am also disgusted by the “sugar coating” of the problems that exist in Costa Rica and it is obvious a lot of people hear are in denial over the current situation here in Costa Rica. Whenever one brings up an issue concerning COsta Rica, it quickly becomes a bash USA topic. Why can’t we intelligently discuss Costa Rica ( the good and the bad) without bad mouthing the USA? I don’t get it.
Its almost like they are trying to convince themselves they made the right decision to move here by demonizing the USA constantly.October 20, 2011 at 11:46 pm #204766kimballMemberWhats up with the copy and paste problems ? 😛

I know i said i would not reply but are you insane? MY CONSPIRACY THEORIES? I am obviously dealing with an intellectually inferior mind. NAME 1 CONSPIRACY THEORY I HAVE DISCUSSED IN THIS FORUM, JUST 1. Your the one with the obvious conspiracy theories. This is really no longer challenging for me but i had to reply to your idiotic post. You need to be reeducated my friend. You obviously have nothing to bring to the table here and it baffles me why you even post. Why don’t you, Scott and Miravilla go hold hands and sing Kumbaya together. You guys deserve each other.
Tsk tsk tsk…you seem a little touchy when anyone opposes your far out conspiracy theories regarding America the Beautiful. This is not the way to behave in well mannered, adult society. Stomping your feet, throwing a tantrum and turning a polite discussion into personal attacks tends to pollute the atmosphere and detour the exchange of ideas.
How about I turn the tables on that right wing sentiment and offer you a variation on an old conservative saying from the 60’s: “Costa Rica, love it or leave it!”

Once again, name ONE conspiracy theory i ever stated. why dont you google “conspiracy theory” and look up the meaning of the word. Its frustrating to have a discussion with someone who speaks nonsense.
As for your last sentence, I don’t get it. You want me to leave Costa Rica because I dont buy into your bullshit?
October 21, 2011 at 5:23 am #204770agarciaMemberSprite aren’t you still living in the USA? There’s a topic for discussion. This one has become stale.

I don’t post here much although I still read these forums a bit.
I applaud your U.S. passion and its that blind passion that allows the U.S. to keep moving forward with its excessive taxation of its citizens.
even though I applaud your continued patriotism you have to really do some diligence yourself regarding the U.S.A and its true intentions.
all my friends back in the U.S. say that I also bash america which is really why i dont discuss these things any longer as people get really emotional even on diluted wrong information.
I don’t want bad things to happen to the U.S. as this affects everyone
but you cannot deny the facts and stick your head in the ground.
if you were to commit a portion of your life to studying and searching for the truth it will become evident.
as miravilla mentioned the only TRUE power you have
is you can let your feet do the talking and leave.
thats it
and if costa rica decides to follow in the footsteps of the U.S. with its excessive taxation other micro managing peoples lives policys.
then I will let me feet do the talking and leave. 🙂
there is a interesting book from Buchanan called
suicide of a superpwoer which I found to be very on point with the problems the U.S. faces
here is a except review:
Pat begins in his Introduction with a warning from Soviet Russia: that America is no longer truly a nation, which he defines as “a people of a common ancestry, culture, and language who worship the same God, revere the same heroes, cherish the same history, celebrate the same holidays, [and] share the same music, poetry, art, literature.” Pat’s thesis is clear throughout the book: America is disintegrating before our eyes. “What happened to the country we grew up in?” It’s a question that I, as someone born in 1960 and someone who shares Pat’s Christian beliefs, can identify with.
October 21, 2011 at 2:13 pm #204772wasagaParticipantI have never ever posted before this. If you think that you have high taxes take a look at us in Canada. We in Ontario pay an extra 13% H.S.T. on every day purchases such as necessities plus when I was working my income tax was as high as 45% and that was making approximately $65,000 to $70,000 a year and if I managed to get overtime the 45% would be higher. At this time we work for the government until mid June to the beginning of July, then we get the money in our hands. That is, up to June and July it all goes to taxes. Now that is what a gimme gimme society does. (socialism)
October 21, 2011 at 3:54 pm #204773DavidCMurrayParticipantAh, but what do you get for your money? One thing you don’t get is a military budget that’s larger than the rest of the world’s combined. But what you do get is a public medical care system that is better than anything available to most U.S. citizens.
Deduct the cost of private, but less comprehensive, medical care insurance from your Canadian tax bill and you’ll find out just how good you’ve got it.
October 21, 2011 at 5:21 pm #204774agarciaMemberPeople die waiting for service in the Canadian system and there is no private option in Canada. While the Canadian system has some perks, it is far from the ideal. I would consider Costa Rica to be better with both a public and private option – but clearly there is a tremendous amount of waste and mismanagement. Just my two cents – after tax.
October 21, 2011 at 5:42 pm #204775DavidCMurrayParticipantWith all due respect, people die waiting for service in all health systems including the Canadian national one, the U.S. non-system, and the Costa Rican CAJA among others. We have friends whose teenage daughter, who suffers frequent and debilitating headaches, waited over two years for an MRI or CAT scan. In that time, her brain tumor, had there been one, could have grown to the size of a cantaloup.
And the Tico Times reported a couple of years ago that the primary obstetric hospital was scheduling ultrasound exams for pregnant women ten months out. Think about it.
And the published reports of the backlogs in pathology (tens of thousands of examinations) and surgeries (some 16,000 procedures) reflect upon a system which, while vastly better than what’s available in much of the world, still has a very long way to go.
There is, in fact, a private option for Canadians. Nothing prevents Canadians, most of whom live in the very southernmost regions, from traveling south to the U.S. where their money will be happily accepted. Or they can go to Europe. Or Thailand. Or India. Or Costa Rica — just ask Scott.
October 22, 2011 at 3:10 am #204776agarciaMemberBut you fail to recognize that Canadians pay for a Cadillac system but may get Hyundai service. When you are sick and don’t have the money and the family support that’s often needed, an out of country private option may not be a real option.
October 24, 2011 at 7:40 pm #204777wasagaParticipantAh,Mr Murray don’t believe everything you seen in the Michael Moore propaganda film (not that you do) Our system has up to a 12 month waiting period just to see a specialist.
A family member had to wait 8 months for a colonoscopy(sp), and I had to wait 7 months to see a throat specialist and a friend of mine who is passing blood (may be too much info) has to wait one month to see a specialist.
We have people sleeping in hospital hallways because there is not enough room. A few years ago the government closed down several hospitals, due to costs, which caused overcrowding.
In our emerg waiting rooms there can be up to a 12 hour waiting period,(busy) approximately 2 1/2 years ago we moved from one city to another and for over 2 years we had to travel 4 hours return to see our doctor because doctors were we moved to ,were not taking on new patients finally one of the doctors opened up his practice to new patients.
Also we had to register with our government to let them know that we moved and looking for a new doctor and then they had to approve our registration with the new doctor.
Now our great system does not pay for all the coverage therefore I have private coverage which I pay $285 a month for. The private covers extended hospital care, dental care, vision care and drugs not covered by the government system.
Also we pay the government $100 a year up front so that we can get our prescriptions filled (not much but) also we have to pay the pharmacist a dispensing fee for the drugs each time (not much but).
We winter in Florida (until our house is Costa Rica is built) and this past Feb. I got sick and went into one of the hospitals. Within 25 min. I was in an exam room and for the next 3 hours had numerous tests done and the results, all that would have taken me up to six months here to do with all the test, results, etc.
Also I noticed at the hospitals in Florida you don’t pay for parking here we pay through the nose for parking (a small thing but the system needs money)
Mr. Murray you say that we have an option to travel to another country to get things done. Well if our system is so great why should I and why would I travel to another country?
Is that not the reason we are paying such a high tax rate?
By the way you do have a point, people who can afford and have the time do travel to Buffalo for treatment, ask any hospital in the Buffalo area ( I mention Buffalo because it is close )
But again why on earth should they have to, everyone thinks we have such a great system. (Government run duh) Your (I know maybe not yours now because you are in C.R. but you know what I mean) Obamacare is going to cost you a lot of money and the only way is to RAISE EVERYONE’S TAXES , not just the so called rich.
Incidentally as you probably know Obama and other “leaders”,UNIONS,and other select few, how they become select is anyone’s guess, have received exemptions from the system, ever wonder WHY.
Even our politicians go to private clinics which are legal in Quebec. You mention Tico Times about the ultrasound wait period (Is that not a government run system) and they have a delay.
I have heard and read nothing but good about the C.R. system. Also I don’t believe that a person in need of medical attention would be turned away at any hospital in your great country.
The American people have bigger hearts and more kindness that to turn anyone away that needs help. I love your country and have many good friends there, I would never belittle or trash your land or people. But people seem to forget if you did not have the military might that you do (you mentioned military) you and I would not be free to do what we are doing now.
Don’t forget the brave souls that put themselves out there (to-day and years gone by) so that the terrorists (of today and of years past) do not get a foot hold in the U.S.A. because if they could they certainly would.
This is not an attack on you Mr. Murray but I just thought that maybe you should have a few facts on OUR system. Now nothing is perfect in this world, however, put anything in the hands of the government, well look around.
Having experience with both systems I do prefer yours. How is your cat?
October 24, 2011 at 9:20 pm #204778DavidCMurrayParticipantThe cat is fine.
If you think that no one is turned away from U.S. medical care sources, you are indeed deluding yourself. It happens constantly. I’ve worked in and around it. I’ve seen it.
I’ve never suggested that the Canadian public system was perfect or beyond improvement. All I did suggest is that the Costa Rican CAJA has many limitations and shortcomings. If you think all your expectations will be met here, I think you’re in for a rude awakening.
Those are the facts which, by the way, have nothing to do with terrorism or terrorists.
