The term “Realtor” is trademarked by the National Association of Realtors in the U.S. In order for someone to represent him/herself as a “Realtor” s/he must be licensed in his or her state, pass the additional training required by the NAR, join the local board of Realtors, join the NAR, and participating in the ongoing professional training.
There may be a few folks selling real estate here in Costa Rica who actually meet all those criteria and can legitimately represent themselves to be “Realtors”, but I’ll bet they’re scarcer than virgins.
We have an article about this very problem at: [https://www.welovecostarica.com/public/638.cfm ]. There are very few people working in Costa Rica selling real estate who are entitled to call themselves Realtors.
