We are looking for an excellent veterinarian with state of the art facilities to do surgery on our dog. Does anyone have a recommendation?
Depending on just what your dog needs, you may be best off to try to get your local vet to refer you to the faculty of the vet school which is located at one of the universities. My impression of local veterinarians here is that they are relatively underequipped as compared to sophisticated American vets.
Hi BeachGypsy,
I would highly recommend Adrian Molina who has an office in Escazu. I have used him for years. He is a true animal care giver and his staff has provided excellent care to many of my animals over the years. He speaks fluent English and received his degree in the States. If he is unable to assist you personally he can help put you in contact with the University in Heredia as David suggested. The number of the clinic is 2.228.1909. I had a serious accident with one of my dogs last year and Adrian worked with the Specialist at the University and saved the paw of my Cocker. She now runs again minus 2 toes 😉 Hope this helps.
Best,
Ticopaz
Thanks for the replies…..I will contact Dr Molina. I appreciate the referral!
Hola beachgypsy,
If you live on the Nicoya Peninsula and don’t want to travel to San Jose, I can highly recommend Dr. Dalay Delgado Alfaro, in Nicoya. He speaks English, has a lab, does x-rays, ultra sound, teeth cleaning, and he loves animals. He does non profit clinics in Nosara and Samara and is a very kind person.
His phone number is 2685 3492
Good luck!
Betsy
