Can anyone tell me how i go about getting my mail from the states after relocating to Nuevo Arenal.
Is there a place have mail sent and i can then go ther to pick it up?
Thanks,
Chuck
We use Aerocasillas. The fee varies, the basic is $20. a year. You have a p.o. box and and a street address in Miami, then they bring it across. I don’t know if there is an office close to you. Most letters are 1.50 and up it is done by weight. It takes us about two weeks to send to or receive from the states. You cannot ship medications or anything flammable or receive medications without the ministerio of something approval in CR. No food supplements or vitamins either. You can get a mailbox here but a lot of places wont mail internationally and it is good to have an address in the states.
If expecting a parcel via the regular mail system, you will probably have to go to El Roble, just outside of Caldera, Punterenas to pick it up, and to pay both taxes and duty on it.
A friends young son was sent a birthday gift from his aunt, valued at $200 on the customs form. It cost the parents $350 to ‘retrieve it…’
Buy local when possible.
We have a PO box at the Nuevo Arenal post office. If you don’t have one, you can still have mail delivered at the office and the postmaster calls you to let you know you need to pick it up.
