This is our first year here and I just looked up our marchamo online and it is over 284,000 colones.
Most of that is property tax on the 2007 Rav4.
Does this sound right to you that have been here awhile?
Sounds bloody expensive so it is probably correct 😀
If it’s any consolation, I also have a Toyota RAV except it’s a 1999 and I also paid just over 200,000 colones.
In spite of the increased cost of living here (and everywhere else) we love Costa Rica.

Ha! We love it too – moved here in the heart of the rainy season and have lived in our 500 square foot Tico house waiting to start renovations which we did last week. Bats, scorpions, ants and all, we love it here and have no regrets! Just wanted to be sure the marchamo was in the ball park as someone posted on here that the online service had them pay a higher amount and they weren’t thinking they would see a refund anytime soon. Thanks!
