There has been much discussion about alternative methods for various treatments. However, what if someone is on a psychotropic type medication in the US & it is not available in a pharmacy in Costa Rica, however with a prescription it can be obtained over the internet.
Can one obtain the medication via mail in Costa Rica-either shipped directly or via Miami-based mail service?
I have an endocrinologist in Costa Rica who wrote a letter to a physician I know in the U.S. On that basis, the U.S. doc wrote me prescriptions for my diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol meds. Those scripts I sent to our U.S. mail-in pharmacy who sends them to our Miami mail forwarding address, and eventually they make it to Costa Rica. Aside from the fact that it takes a while, I’ve gotten three months worth of meds six different times without either any questions or any Customs duty applied.
Deb, is there some way I can get a U.S. doc to write my scripts without having to involve the doctor in the U.S. whom I’ve used in the past? I don’t want some grey market Internet-based pharmacy to fill them, as my mail-in pharmacy associated with my Blue Cross/Blue Shield coverage does just fine. What I need is scripts written by a doctor with a U.S. DEA registration number that the mail-in pharmacy will honor.
