I have been to the Gold Museum in SJ. Quite familiar with those little trinkets. I think it is assumable that should you find a article like that; then you will not be allowed to keep it. I am more interested in just basic gold detecting. Has anyone done that? Any heads up? What would you do if you found an artifact? I think i would just rebury it until i notified a museum official etc no sense letting greed get to a local official.

I have also thought about what to do if finding an Antique here in Costa Rica. Before I went I would talk to 2 or 3 different lawyers about what the laws are for Antiquities here.

Where we were living just outside of Turrialba, there was some Americans affiliated with a Costa Rican university who brought some students to the property just above ours, for three consecutive years. They did find some very basic ‘tools’ made out of rock and gave us small one, plus they found evidence of dishes.June 16, 2010 at 8:24 pm #205340VersatileMember[quote=”costaricafinca”]You are not permitted to remove any ‘antiquities’ from the country.

I speculate that at the bottom of a waterfall or two is a mucho amount of gold dust etc

My husband keeps saying, when he has time, he will make a sluice box. Of course, it would be easier if we lived nearer a river…June 16, 2010 at 8:42 pm #205342VersatileMember[quote=”costaricafinca”]You find it…I’ll help you get it to the bank….
