Maybe the replies here are too politically correct to be clear.

I have never seen an RV on the road in Costa Rica and I have been here since 1993. Not a speck of demand for a park.

The roads here are so narrow and rough, and the corners so sharp, you would need to have a 30 foot mobile home for it to be mobile.

In spite of this being a rainforest country, almost no-one builds with wood. Termites, mold, mildew, insects you have never seen before all make wood construction a bad idea. Costa Ricans will save for years to pay in full for their little piece of land to build on. Then they may take years to build their house as they can afford it. There is nothing in this culture that could make them buy a trailer home to park on someone else’s land so the could pay rent for the rest of their lives.

Well Alberto, There are RV’s in Costa Rica and some large ones. Also there is a LARGE difference between RV’s and Mobile homes. Rv’s are very moblie and east to get around with even on small roads. Now Mobile homes are a whole different topic, and yes Mobil homes would not be a good idea in CR. But I have talked to several RV owners some of whom live in thier RV’s in an RV Park in Belen. Also some folks have driven thier RV’s to Costa Rica and been approached to sell thier rigs to locals who wanted to buy them. Unless you are really looking RV’s do not usuallY stay in one place very long. But, some have lived in thier trailers (RV) for a long time in Belen RV Park. Ron USCG Ret

Manufactured homes have major issues with mold. All of the doors in a manufactured house don’t touch the floor, they are two inches short to allow for airflow in the house because it is such a problem. My inlaws bought a brand new one in Oregon 5 years ago and it was nothing but problems. And, they added lots of extra windows and fans when they custom designed theirs to improve the air flow. Here we live in the tropics, what are your plans to combat the mold issues?

I understand there are some RVs in Belen and likely there are some people who have brought their RVs from America to park on their land and live in.

However, if you drive around this country you are not likely to encounter RVs clogging the roads like they do up North. This is just not the way of life here. most people live in houses with hardly enough space to park a car, never mind a part time rolling home.

The original post was questioning the need for mobile home parks. It seems the possibility exists that someone will buy a large piece of land and create a KOA campground, but a mobile home park in Costa Rica would be a lonely place.

ColinMIUS, you didn’t answer the question, in regards to if you have ever been to Costa Rica?
I have seen only a few RV’s in the 9 years we have lived here. And can you afford to risk the millions of dollars it will take to ‘set it up’?
