Hi All,
Can anyone direct me to the best people to talk to about mortgages for us British?
Thanks in advance. Jack.

Getting mortgages to buy Costa Rica real estate is not as easy for us Brits as it is for our American and Canadian friends here but it’s getting easier ….

Why would be easier for some nationalities to get mortgages in CR than for others?
Maybe the Brits don’t use a system similar to FICO for creditworthiness scoring?
but any credit history would contain all the relevant details for determining rating would it not?
I’ve recently been told by a reliable Brit that the availability of mortgages in the UK depends upon your payment history and your relationship with your bank. That’s a far cry from the apparently objective scoring algorhythm used by FICO (which I am not defending, by the way). Any credit history might contain all the relevant details, all right. The question is pertains to evaluating them meaningfully.
A friend of mine handling mortgages here in Costa Rica told me yesterday he just processed his first mortgage from the UK. It wasn’t easy but got it done! He has looked after many of my clients so he is the real thing!
