As J.P. Morgan said when asked about the stock market, “It goes up and it goes down” or something to that effect. I will say the same about expats in Costa Rica and you can quote me on this; “Some stay and some go home”.

March 5, 2008 at 5:43 pm #189673AlfredMemberAllow me to pour a little gasoline on the fire regarding “civil unrest,” and our efforts to control it. The US government, in concert with Canada, has signed an agreement on Feb. 14, for having troops cross each others borders in case of a civil emergency. The assumption is natural disasters may require help from outside the US. This might also mean troops from Canada could be asked to enter the US in order to calm down an unruly populous.

This was in a Canadian publication, indicating they are not too happy about this also.
Some people have sugested this is one of the beginning steps toward a united North America.

March 10, 2008 at 12:09 am #189676AlfredMemberJust business as usual Lotus. The thread takes on a life of its own after the first few posts.
When I get a chance, I’ll find that book that states the 40% moving back figure, and post it.
April 19, 2008 at 2:05 pm #189677ReMemberThe US Gov. is I think hoping as many boomers as possible LEAVE the soil of the States because they really don’t want to have to cover every medical occasion that happens to each of us………not to mention what it’s going to cost as we all get seriously older!! I think this is why they are setting up VA med benefits in other countrys and other types of programs……it costs them less to take care of us on foreign soil. That’s what I have heard in discussions with other boomers…who knows!!
