Hello, I am considering moving to Costa Rica from England next year. From information I have received from the Embassy in London it appears that if you have temporary investor residency status, and invest in tourism (eg. a B & B) you can work. I would love to be in touch with someone who has emigrated from England recently if there is anyone on the site. I’d be very grateful for any information.

We do have a lot more North Americans here than Brits Cheryl so as a Brit myself, I look forward to having more here 🙂

You may get opinions from other people about moving here but the “inversionista‘ status can get complicated so please do consult with a qualified residency attorney about the details before you start making any serious plans…

    Hi Cheryl

Scott has forwarded your message to see if we can help you – being Brits who moved here nearly three years ago. We came as ‘pensionados’ (though early ones!)and had to sign that we would not take up employment here i.e. jobs that would otherwise be occupied by a Tican. We had ambiguous information from the Costa Rican Embassy in London about many aspects of immigration so I can only repeat Scott’s advice re getting good legal advice. Alternatively, look on the British Embassy in Costa Rica site to see if they have any advisory notices?
Our B&B is featured in the article ‘two Brits escape the rat race ‘ – do go into my website and write to me on that e mail if I can be of any further help.

    Best wishes, Sheelagh Richards

    Hi Sheelagh,

I am an idiot because I didn’t check the forum before sending you an email through the link on your article!!!!!

I do have a brain, honestly.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Scott,

Thank you for that. It’s nice to know that you would welcome more Brits! Do you have any recommendations for residency attorneys?

    Thank you.

    Cheryl
