Are there any good bookstores in San Jose and/or Escazu? Thank you. I’m an avid reader and need my fix of new books on a regular basis.
Maria,
I am sure there must be others but there is a good bookstore in the Multiplaza mall in Escazu.

Librería Universal near the SE corner of La Sabana, and Univeral, La Lehman, and scattered used book stores in downtown San Jose. You’ll find more books in English in the used book stores, but they come and go.
Libreria Internacional in Multi Plaza among other places has a fairly up-to-date English fiction selection. Seventh Street Book store is also a source. The ARCR office in Casa Canada has an interesting concept… you bring in 2 used books and take home 1. It is constantly expanding! And if you bring down a load of books, the price is right for you and the selection improves for the rest of us.
A lot of the hotels down here keep a used book area. After you read your book, simply go exchange it for a different one. It’s the only way we’ve survived, but we’re not close enough to San Jose or any other big city to find a bookstore.
