If you are looking for a safe place to put your money I would suggest the cooperative financial institutions. They pay 10% interest on colones invested in 6 month CDs or 12% interest on dollars invested in 6 month CDs.
Here in Ciudad Colon it is CoopAlianza.June 15, 2012 at 6:06 pm #204051Andrew
KeymasterIs there a shortage of people selling land in Costa Rica so that you must deal with a company based in Ireland which is a mere 5,088 miles away?
Who’s employees are all in Ireland which is what? Six hours behind Costa Rica time?
Their website doesn’t even mention if any of them speak Spanish…
Is it really possible to be an expert in investing in ‘anything’ in Costa Rica when you are based in Ireland?
Can someone based in Ireland really understand what it’s like to do business in Costa Rica?
Would it not be better to buy or invest in land with someone with significant experience in buying and investing in Costa Rica land who actually also lives in Costa Rica?
Thanks for the tip waggoner41 – what caught my eye about this particular development was the combination of assets in the investment portfolio (not just real estate but renewables also). Still, I appreciate the suggestion of CDs, those are attractive returns.
Absolutely! And I’m sceptical for all of the reasons that you mentioned, but I didn’t think it would hurt to ask if anyone had first-hand experience. You can never trust what you read on the Internet.
So … the question remains – has anyone dealt with these guys directly?

ParticipantWhat you need to find out first is “does this place actually exist?”
Waggoner, what guarantee does CoopAlianza offer?
