I bought a new condo in Jaco in Costa Linda and we are trying to find a way to furnish it. We are currently in the US and we don´t know companies that sell furniture over the internt. Could you help me with names of companies that service the Jaco area? It is a 2 bedroom condo and we need to buy appliances too. Thank you.

I think you will find almost all you need in Jaco downtown, there are many furniture stores. You might also want to have a look at the automercado at the entrance of Herradura. And about the decoration advice, I think it has been discussed before, there were many good names mentionned in different areas
Good luck
JoJune 20, 2007 at 4:27 pm #184669AlvaroMemberMy advise is to contact Pacific Home Furnishings http://www.pacifichomefurnishing.com. They are located in Guanacaste but maybe they can help you in Jaco. I have heard many great things about them. You may also try to contact Carolina Ortiz at INTERDISENO in Escazu http://www.interdisenocr.com 228-1338. They are a professional interior design firm with graduate designers from Savanah Institute of Design, NYU and Universidad Fidelitas which is the best design school in Costa Rica. Another person that might help you is Magda Bruna from Concierge Costa Rica http://www.conciergecr.com. They would be the best option in terms of quick, hassle free, honest and high quality design. If you are looking for a more affordable and do it yourself kind of project then contact and purchase each piece of furniture at La Artistica http://www.laartistica.net, Bo Concept http://www.boconcept.co.cr, Altea Design http://www.alteadesign.com, Muebles Akiro http://www.grupoakiro.com or Habitat Muebles y Accesorios http://www.habitatmuebles.com. I would go for an interior designer such as INTERDISENO or Concierge Costa Rica as they would even furnish the place down to the linens and kitchen supplies.
There, I have solved your problem. Now you owe me $2,000 for my consulting services. Just kidding…hope this helps!!!

I was very happy with what she did in my condo in Bahia Encantada. In fact, she does all the furnishings in all Daystar projects, her number is 506-643-2767, tell her Jiten sent you.
June 20, 2007 at 6:32 pm #184671WendshuMemberHello Mary,
Just like Alvaro says go for Pacific Home Furnishing http://www.pacifichomefurnishing.com they have a catalogue online and they will help you, they are patient and very honest people (something you need to watch in this country). They did the furniture in my condo in Playa Hermosa and they delivered everything and set it up beautifully. I was actually very impressed with their service. I don´t know about all the other companies he mentions but if you take my word, it is out of a great experience. Their phone number is (506) 665-1750June 22, 2007 at 1:44 am #184672JosieMemberWhen I needed to furnish my place, I contacted an interior decorator in Jaco. Lynn Gensemer at Chungo Designs 643-3473 http://www.chungodesigns.com
She knows furniture makers who can custom build to your liking and THE BEST kept secret places for decorating. I thought it was going to be exhorbant, but she really knew how to get me a bargain! When my place was finished I couldn’t believe how unique and inexpensive it was.June 24, 2007 at 3:47 am #184673CancertomnpdxMemberDear Alvaro:
You have made my day, my week, my month and my year! I have been looking for links to such websites for a very long time. Thank you for sharing your information with us!

All the stores mentioned before can sell furniture online and you can see their catalogs in those websites. I´m not sure how they will handle the deliver. Other important point is that if you want different things from different stores you have to pay delivery fees to each one and that´s very expensive because all of them are located in San Jose.
My recomendation when you want to decorate your house from the US online is finding an interior design company that can offer everything you need and you will deal with only one person, one instalation and one delivery.
When you locate a firm there are important questions to ask:
Do you have a certificated interior designer in this company?
Where he or she graduate?
Where he or she works before?
Do you have a portfolio of other projects that I can see?
What kind of furniture you have available?
Which brands?
Where they built that furniture?
What type of wood do you use?
What kind of fabrics they use?
What is the difference between the furniture that I have to buy for a beach condo instead a city condo?
And the most important question… Do you have a WARRANTY on your furniture and fabrics?Edited on Jul 20, 2007 13:25

Look closely and check the way they work, the procedure they use to get your design done, step by step. The follow up you receive and the services they offer.
A good sign is transparency with the pricing and respecting your budget.Edited on Jul 20, 2007 01:25

July 22, 2007 at 12:24 pm #184677marycourMemberSusana,
Thank you very much for your offer but I have already chosen an interior design company that came up with a very fair budget for my condo. I don´t want to spend a fortune in my rental but want to keep it looking nice. They presented me with a very balanced suggestion for furniture and I have made my decision. Your advise is very wise and I´m sure some of the people from this forum will be interested in the service that your company offers. Good luck with your marketing campaign!! -
