You can’t buy those guns legally. Did this evil monster use those weapons? Your thinking is XXXXXXXXX as usual. Guns are tools used to fight evil people.

April 20, 2007 at 12:04 am #182728terrycookMemberRoark…if this was tongue in cheek that is fine but I missed it. otherwise the wepons are available all over the place and ONly FOR the BAD guys to kill the good guys. No one needs these wepons. I am not for gun control so don’t get me wrong but these are not things you carry in normal everyday life…only planned to commit mass killings or robb a bank etc.
terry from texasApril 20, 2007 at 12:39 am #182729AlfredMemberLets not be too naive. Have you ever noticed the armoria on Avenida Dos in San Jose. Or the one in Ciudad Alajuela. There are gun shops in Costa Rica, and many of its citizens own firearms for protection. The benefits of a still yet free society. When guns are outlawed, then only outlaws will have guns.
April 20, 2007 at 12:46 am #182730AlfredMemberOne question. If pharmaceuticals are causing this rash of mass murdering of innocent people in the US, what drives the suicide bomber in the Middle East? Is it drugs, or an entire world gone out of control.
April 20, 2007 at 1:14 am #182731RoarkMemberThe point is the monster killed these people with handguns not AK-47s. What is wrong with good people carrying guns to kill bad people carrying guns? And if your not for gun control what is your point?
Virginia has a right to carry law but the University is a gun free zone. If students and faculty were allowed to carry guns at the University the death toll would have been reduced.
April 20, 2007 at 5:35 am #182732ChariotdriverMemberIt’s those 77 virgins that they are being promised if they die for Allah.
April 20, 2007 at 7:19 pm #182733maravillaMemberIt’s a whole other issue, primarily one of fanaticism, and yes, it’s all an indication of a world gone completely mad. We live in very sad and dangerous times.
April 20, 2007 at 7:46 pm #182734maravillaMemberHere’s the latest scoop on the VA massacre:

April 20, 2007 at 8:33 pm #182735AlfredMemberAt first I thought that link would bring me to a totally left wing antigun site. Not that bad on their gun stance, and they do bring interesting arguments to the table. Some very scary hypothesis about what could have made the shooter the way he was. And I’m not talking about the Prozac.
April 20, 2007 at 8:39 pm #182736AlfredMemberJust to lighten this up a bit. Here’s a link to a little political quiz to see if you are liberal, centrist, libertarian or conservative. http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html
It’s pretty much fun, and may surprise you on your rating.
I’ll tell you mine if you tell me yours. LOL
Enjoy!
April 20, 2007 at 9:18 pm #182737terrycookMemberHi alfred…I scored libritarian and that is probably right on the nail. and proud of it!
terry from texasApril 20, 2007 at 9:22 pm #182738namvetMemberTime out!! Call me crazy or naive but I doubt the credibility of this source. To be clear I am both anti-guns and anti drugs but this article is a little off the wall. The weapons expert they quote as saying that a 9mm Glock is a weapon used for “plinking at cans” must not be aware that this weapon is the choice of police forces and paramilitary forces all over the world. If my memory serves me right an M16 assault rifle is a 7.62 MM as is an AK47….the 9MM Glock packs more power and is a big time gun. There were thousands of people killed in Vietnam by a lot less weapon than a 9MM Glock.
Thec Tribune article he quotes just says “investigators believe that he was using anti-depressants a some point in time”. This is an assumption that could be made since at one time he had been admitted for one day for psycological testing. I’m not saying he wasn’t but this article is not proof.
Then……..the article goes on to talk about CIA involvement at universities, mind control experiments, Manchurian candidate type experiments. WOW!!!! This reporter may be a little off the wall. Read some of the comments posted about this article and this reporter….a lot of these people don’t appear to be mainstream in their thinking.
Don’t believe everything you see on the internet or read in the newspapers.
April 20, 2007 at 9:39 pm #182739bradbardMemberMK Ultra and their mind control experiments is not something that he has made up. The US government spent billions of dollars trying to wipe clean, control and reprogram the minds of thousands of US citizens, most of them without their knowledge.
I’m assuming that at one point in time, Jesus Christ was considered “off the wall” by many people.
Consider the source yes! But consider what’s in it for him by saying this? Nothing …
What’s in it for the pharmaceutical companies? Hundreds of billions of dollars.
Are MK Ultra and the pharmaceutical companies connected? You betcha.
April 20, 2007 at 10:41 pm #182740maravillaMemberEverything about the CIA black ops projects is correct, including that Ted Kozcinski and Timothy Leary were their guinea pigs. Project Bluebird, Artichoke, MK-Ultra are all very real. You’ve never heard of Frank Olsen? How about Sidney Gottlieb? How about E-lie Lilly making two tonnes of LSD which it sold to the CIA for mind control experiments. These are not conspiracy theories; these are facts, scary and fantastic as they sound. It is also a fact that Prozac (etal) affect the brain in the same way LSD does — by raising serotonin levels. It those levels are two high, violence ensures. I could write a book about this subject. Oh, wait, I DID write a book about this subject. Just another case of life imitating art.
April 21, 2007 at 12:22 am #182741AlfredMemberTerry, Ok, I always thought of myself as a conservative. My score comes in as centrist, with a leaning towards the right.
I think just participating in this forum has somehow changed my system of judgement and values. At this rate, in a couple of years I may turn into a socialist, might even want to settle in Cuba…Hey wait a minute! Are you guys using mind control on me?Maravilla, I’m just dying for you to take the quiz. Please.
