Obtaining drivers license info:
Ok, this is a weird one, and I am asking to see if anyone has encountered this, and so has any advice.
My partner, Jon, went down to COSEVI a few months back to obtain his CR license.
I did mine the year before, and we understand that the law is that if you have a valid drivers license from the US, and have LESS then 90 days on your passport stamp, then it’s a simple matter of paperwork, a physical and some money.
No need to take any exams ( in spanish) or a drivers test if you had LESS then 90 days on your stamp.
Again, I did this a couple of years ago, no problem.
I did not have my cedula yet at that time.
Jon went down a few months ago to do the same, however he already has his cedula, the only difference.
He had just come back onto the country two weeks earlier, and had a 90 day stamp.
At COSEVI they told him that he had to come back AFTER her had 90 days after entering the country.
He asked multiple times if that was correct since it was the opposite of the law as everyone understands it.
He eventually got an english speaking person there to confirm, and they said to come back AFTER 90 days in the country.
As we understand the law, first, after 90 days he is driving illegally by not having a CR license, and second, he will now have to take the exams since it is now after the 90 days.
Anyone????
Thanks
