“Paragon Properties of Costs Rica refused to return deposit on land and defaulted on their contract-possible large scale fraud case-I am another 1 of the dozens possibly hundreds of victims. Hollywood, Florida”
If you have bought land from these people as my husband and I nearly did you should read this for more information about trying to get your case heard and get your money back
November 22, 2009 at 12:42 am #202857AndrewKeymasterSally – This week, “someone” has emailed me twice from two different email addresses including two different links to download a very well written and fairly devastating 21 page report on Paragon Properties of Costa Rica.
The title of the report is ‘The Disgrace of a Company Called Paragon Properties of Costa Rica‘ and the very first paragraph pretty much sums up the tone of the entire report.
The first paragraph states that: “As 2010 looms, it is highly doubtful that the unlucky people who put deposits on, or bought outright, properties marketed by Paragon Properties of Costa Rica S.A. will ever see required basic infrastructure and services installed in the lots they own, or get their money back.”
The report looks at the convoluted beginnings of the company in the ‘Story Back When’ and then examines the ‘Story Today’ mentioning that “Paragon, currently has a Best Business Bureau rating of F — its lowest – with little evidence it will go up any time soon.”
There are references to the valuable information found on various websites including WeLoveCostaRica.com and many others.
It looks at the people – many with very colourful backgrounds – behind Paragon Properties and mentions that “… some of the dirt dug up on the names behind Paragon suggest anything but “supremely excellent persons or things, model (of virtue etc.)” [Concise Oxford Dictionary definition of ‘paragon’.].”
With quotes from a number of ex-employees of Paragon, and very dissatisfied Paragon clients is there any hope for Paragon’s customers?
Knowing the Costa Rican legal system could take ten years to even hear this matter, it would be sensible for Paragon customers to read this report soon and perhaps follow the recommendations about how to take action now.
I did begin this by saying “someone emailed me” very deliberately because I have been unable to discover who this “someone” is… I did try emailing them back to get their permission to put the report in our Download Library but this link was obviously sent to me by one of those anonymous email systems and when I emailed back all I got in return was an error message.
It was in March 2005 – nearly five years ago – that I wrote: “But we are not going to say anything that we are not 100% sure about so, we did some research for you and would strongly encourage you to take a long hard look at what other people are saying about Paragon and Mr. Stephen Tashman of Paragon Properties of Costa Rica:”
Anyway if you have any interest in reading this report you can download ‘The Disgrace of a Company Called Paragon Properties of Costa Rica’ right here.
Doesn’t look like too many people have downloaded it yet but good luck!
The first link that was emailed to me was http://www.filemonster.net/en/file/14378/ParagonDisgrace17Nov09B-pdf.html but that hasn’t worked for me yet…

I have purchased 2 properties from Paragon Properties of Costa Rica located in Hollywood, FL. I purchased these properties almost 5 years ago and was told that the first property in Heights of Pacifica, Phase 3 would be ready for building within 18 months. I have a deed that shows that I could build a home for $58.00 a square foot. About 2 years ago I 2was sent this beautiful brochure showing all these beautiful homes. Since then I’ve made 3 trips to view my properties and everything is at a stand still. Most of the personnel that were with the company in Florida, namely Lyle Wexler and Kenny Gold are long departed for all kinds of ridiculous reasons and the few that are remaining are very evasive to any questions. The way I see it, I’m out $55, 000.00 and these con men could care less. For what its worth I think anyone and all who read this should ban together and file a class action suit freezing any and all their assets before they disappear. Feel free to contact me should you read this.March 8, 2010 at 8:20 pm #202860soldierMemberHaving been a complex litigation paralegal, and assisted on numerous class action litigation cases. Fellow members, proceed with caution; attorneys will not tell you what we in the legal field already know; attorneys and law firms acquire most of the settlement monies. This is accomplished via a fee petition to the Court. The fee petition lists attorneys and paralegal fees, hours worked on the case by all parties, copy fees, mailing fees, the list is too numerous for me to continue. The Court can also award a “Multiplyer,” usually 1-3 times the amount of the fee petition. In a settlement, class members usually only receive a token amount of the settlement monies. Look at all your legal options, prior to becoming a class member.
