First trip we landed in Corcovado enjoy our stay there alot, we move on to Manzanillo and Chuita which was nice but lack the adverture Corcovado had. We check out Arenal but to many tourist and left after two days. We made no reservation for hotels we landed in a town walk around until we found a hotel in $25 range, even in Arenal we found a two bedroom apartment for $27.
This time we have three weeks again and the wife wants to see Monteverde but I worry it just going to be like Arenal. Been reading about the Montezuma area and Domincal but these area seem like there going to be lots of tourist and expensive.

PS. I don’t think Dominical ever has “lots” of tourists but Monteverde would certainly have a lot more …

By FAR…my most enjoyable so far was Osa Peninsula and as matter of fact headed back there in less than 2 weeks. I agree with Scott that you will not find Dominical to be a “touristy” type place at all. It is still a “sleepy” little town but may not stay that way for much longer given that what used to be a treacherous road between Quepos and Dominical has now been paved. My first trip was to Monteverde but that was years ago so I am not sure how much that has changed but given that Monteverde is so heavily promoted by travel guides and agents along wth Arenal I would not expect it to be anything like the peacefulness and raw nature setting as the Osa. If you want to “get away” from the tourist crowds then Domincal might be a consideration for you. There are many quaint little towns and beaches south south of Dominical such as Ojochal…Uvita..Ventanas..etc. Good Luck.

Animal researchers are getting Puma and Jaguar photos using a GAME CAMERA and Calvin Klein Obsession Cologne as bait!

In 1997 Monteverde was still awesome. I returned in 2005. That was my final drive to Monteverde. -
