Do the Farmacias in Costa Rica accept prescriptions from doctors in the U.S.?
Bill
Bill, most medications that require a physician’s prescription in the U.S. are available in Costa Rica over the counter at the patient’s request. You would not need a prescription. There is a second class of meds which require some screening and counseling by the pharmacist but still no prescription. And then there are some, mostly abusable, meds that do require a prescription.
I’ll try to check with my local pharmacist to see if he can honor a prescription written by a physician in the U.S. If he cannot, he can refer you to a local doc who can do the deed.
