Rentals in Costa Rica

Will be in the central valley for 2 months this coming winter. We are looking at retiring there next year in the fall. Will want to rent instead of buy. Has the US economy problems trickled down to CR? Is it easy to rent a place for a good price? Thanks for any help or info you can give us.Debra
