We just moved into our new house and would like to have a pergola made and installed for our terrace. Could someone tell me if this requires an architect, planos and or a permit?
September 10, 2010 at 3:26 pm #205108costaricafincaParticipantYou should get a permit 🙄 and take under consideration that it may change your home into the luxury category..if not already… and a special tax will be due, since you will have now have more m2 under a roof.
Or just build your pergola….September 10, 2010 at 3:46 pm #205109oxford55Member
You should get a permit 🙄 and take under consideration that it may change your home into the luxury category..if not already… and a special tax will be due, since you will have now have more m2 under a roof.
Or just build your pergola….
My home is already in the luxury category……under roof? A pergola does not have a solid roof, it is open.
September 10, 2010 at 4:06 pm #205110johnrMemberI would just check with the municipality. You will probably need a permit but I would think that a simple drawing would work versus hiring an architenct.
September 10, 2010 at 4:27 pm #205111wspeed1195MemberI would just build it myself.unless you’ve got the whistle blowin snitchin neighbor who loathes your upgrade.
September 10, 2010 at 4:37 pm #205112costaricafincaParticipantIt has a partial roof….and since it is already in that category, just build it.
If you ‘read’ what extras add m2 even a garden path, counts.September 10, 2010 at 5:24 pm #205113wspeed1195Memberok,roof,are we applying semantics to the word “roof”?
roof is the upper COVERING of a house in or by construction terms.
A pergola has joist,attached to A girder,spaced from each other.supported by poles,or 2 walls with bands,then girders.
some folks will run lateral slats,1×4? spaced usually the same as the nominal lats, then it becomes A trellised pergola or trellis.
at least thats what the code enforcement descriptions, and blueprint descriptions say.September 10, 2010 at 5:45 pm #205114costaricafincaParticipantI’m not trying to split hairs, just was adding what was stated when this new law came into effect.
Hey, we have 2 pergolas and didn’t apply for any permits….September 10, 2010 at 6:08 pm #205115wspeed1195Member
I’m not trying to split hairs, just was adding what was stated when this new law came into effect.
Hey, we have 2 pergolas and didn’t apply for any permits….
I wasn’t really pointing it at you, just sharing info.often folks make more out of or read things into something thats relatively harmless.
and from bein here for A minute, you have seemingly applied sense to what rules are useable and which are sensless.
I could safely say, that were you to do something that could be affected seizmically, you’d do so properly.
hence your just putting your pergolas up and goin on with pura vida.:wink:September 10, 2010 at 8:25 pm #205116F.A SkippyMemberLOL.
I suggest moving to Costa Rica.
The central valley is El Salvador.
