Since this project was announced in February 2004 have there been any new new announcements or progress on it ?? It was supposed to go from La Cruz in the Northern Guanacaste area to Playa Ario in the southern Nicoya Peninsula. As nearly as I can tell this has’nt been posted BUT I could be wrong or maybe there are’nt any more recent posts.
I have not seen anything about this route specifically although on 24th June 2006 they did announce that seven firms as of July would begin a 12,400,000,000 colones project for repairs along 4,000 kilometres of roads in 22 different areas.

In the February 4,2004 edition of La Nacion there is an article on it in Spanish (which I have’nt translated). Supposedly MOPT made the announcement. I saw it specifically mentioned in some development projects in Guanacaste on their websites. Whether they did anything further or whether it has been delayed or cancelled I do’nt know. The article was written by Alvaro Murillo M. There was a map included which showed the route from La Cruz to Liberia then down to the coast by Playa Ocotol all the way down to Playa Ario, which is just north of Manzanillo.
