I have a 24 ft racing sailboat. Question 1 Is there a sall boat racing fleet and is there any organized sailing
Question 2. How to I legally get a boat into CR? Thanks Bob
The only organized sailing event I can think of is the Regatta Papagayo in the Gulf of Papagayo, Guanacaste. Here’s the link: http://www.regattapapagayo.org. I know a guy in Playas del Coco called YANN, he is the captain of a boat called Kuna Vela and he is a very experienced sailor and has been in Costa Rica for many years. He would tell you all you need to know so here’s his website: http://www.kunava.com. We have a 44′ CSY sailboat in our Resort in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste but it’s more of a cruising vessel, not a lean mean racing machine and we use it to tour our VIP clients. First year at the Regatta Papagayo we had 15 sailboats and it was a lot of fun but more of a social event. This year we had 25 boats in the competiton and it was a lot more competitive. This event will definitely become a sensation in the future. Join us in 2008!
You could try http://www.costaricayachtclub.com/ or http://www.puertoazulcr.com I know the latter has a regatta, which this year was held in June.
