    Hi Scott,

I’ve read a few messages where we seem to have had the same ideas, re: Micro-Loan Fund, Hedges, etc.

I was wondering if you thought about being an incubator, angel investor, or even a venture capital firm. Pretty sure these types of organizations can exist without the heavy-handed bureaucracy of being in the credit/banking industry (in CR or anywhere else).

    Any thoughts ?

If you have any brilliant ideas as to how this could work legally WITHOUT any regulatory BS from either the local authorities SUGEVAL and SUGEF and of course our friendly – and very overworked friends at the SEC ‘up North – then “I’m all ears.”

But the whole concept of “public offering” etc., is just a nightmare….

No, I was thinking more along the lines of helping entrepreneurs start businesses with seed capital. Along the lines of private funding, contracts, etc. Not taking companies public, not making loans, but more along the lines of mentoring and providing capital. For example, starting a textiles factory, the corporation would buy a percentage of ownership in the company as a partner, etc. In this way, local companies could get funding.

Hard enough to do in the US. The SBA is marginalized. Most private equity is on the sidelines except for the most attractive of scenarios. The angel clubs are not doing a lot either and when they do it is in growth companies or producing mineral assets. Taking that mindset offshore is not easier.

I’m investing my time and money in local tech startups, because I believe in the people and know that profits will come eventually. I think that entrepeneurs have the same basic qualities regardless of location. One of the towns we’ve looking at as a possible place to live (some day) is Grecia, which is planning to implement wireless internet coverage. Now that’s exciting, the kind of people I’d be willing to work with.

Anyway, I think I’ve got my answer, and I appreciate the time reading this forum.

    Cheers!
