Do you think both of them used steroids…?
Found safe:
“Well, that’s a relief. I (Don Winner)just spoke to Allan Duckworth. He and Stacie are both alive and well. He was chilled to hear about the later exploits of Holbert and Reese. I had the story right, about the bar in Puerto Viejo and the general description of the story about how things went down. The Duckworth’s actually went with Holbert and Reese to the Jaco area of Costa Rica where they lived for two months. In fact the Duckworths decided they needed to get away from Holbert and Reese because, according to Duckworth, Holbert was apparently trying to change his appearance to make himself look more like Allan. Their radars were working, they got worried and suspicious, and they got the hell away from those two. That probably saved their lives. In any case, they are fine (Thank God.)”Copyright 2010 by Don Winner for Panama-Guide.com.

This pair seems to have been fully cognizant of their actions. Neither “roid” rage nor long-term Ritalin use would account for the calculating manner in which they perpetrated their crimes. If they are aware enough to plan out complicated identity theft schemes resulting in homicide, they must be aware of the consequences of getting caught.
Empathic capacity follows the classic bell-shaped curve, from those in which it is non-existent to those who are so in tuned to the needs of others they forget themselves. This pair seems to be much closer to the non-existent end of the scale. Does this mean they are mentally ill? Perhaps, but they certainly do not meet the definition of mental illness used in the USA for criminal prosecution. Society must protect itself from individuals who perpetrate heinous crimes. The question remains “How?”

Mental illness results in sudden outbursts of rage or murders in which the motive is neither logical or apparent to others.
These people are cold calculating murderers for personal gain. They are no more than animals and deserve an end in keeping with their actions.
August 14, 2010 at 1:33 pm #159494costaricafincaParticipantMost recent news out of Panama, advising us that other body/bodies may be found in Jaco

August 14, 2010 at 1:52 pm #159496costaricafincaParticipantYes, he has done a very good job.
August 17, 2010 at 1:16 pm #159497VersatileMemberA little more info with more spin on it.
August 17, 2010 at 3:10 pm #159498costaricafincaParticipantI am ‘amazed’ that there is not more Costa Rican involvement in finding out what happened and in the search for more victims in this horrific case.
August 17, 2010 at 9:48 pm #159499RonnyMemberJust thought I’d mention that if you click on the link of my original post at the very top, there are daily updates and the whole story from the beginning on several pages.
Scott must have a few contacts in Jaco that could help find out where the serial killers were renting…non?August 22, 2010 at 11:08 pm #159500YvetteMember
Yes, yvette, the only problem is that the murders were not committed in the United States, so the U.S. has no standing to extradite or adjudicate this pair. The crimes were committed on Panamanian or Costa Rican soil. Those are the countries with jurisdiction and Costa Rica, at least, has no death penalty.
And, while we’re at it, can you point us to some credible evidence that these people are clinically mentally ill or that either of them has been on Ritalin or anything else? Or is this something you pulled out of . . wherever?
I didn’t pull it out of my whatever, i pulled it out of the Aug. 8 JAMA (Journal of American Medical Society) and a recent study from the Army Times, from a friend (age 33) we recently pulled out of the river having been on mind altering drugs since 3rd grade and…
… from a person i sat beside on our riverbank who informed me that he had had to kill little girls like me in the war, then said … ‘they programed me to kill why didn’t they de-program me before they sent me home? turned out he was the serial killer (of prostitutes here in our city) apprehended a short while after our conversation.
Anyone who kills a living thing is mentally ill in my book. Interesting though that he has refused psyche testing. Just sayin…..
August 22, 2010 at 11:20 pm #159501DavidCMurrayParticipantYvette, you are, of course, welcome to your personal opinion, but it hardly qualifies as clinical evidence.
And,by the way, does your aversion to killing any living thing extend to animals raised for slaughter? Vernim?
September 6, 2010 at 3:19 pm #159502AndrewKeymasterIMHO Don Winner of the http://www.panama-guide.com deserves some kind of a medal for all the incredible work he has done in investigating this case …
——————————————————
On Tuesday, 31 August 2010, I filed an eleven-page formal complaint in San Jose, Costa Rica, before the Fiscalia Adjunta Contra El Crimen Organizado (Deputy Prosecutor Against Organized Crime), against William Dathan Holbert and Laura Michelle Reese for the homicide of Jeffery Arlan Kline (and others). The situation on the ground in Costa Rica was basically the same as it was here in Panama in early July 2010. Their Organization of Judicial Investigation (OIJ) had some information in the case however none of that information had been passed to the prosecutors of the Public Ministry. In Panama in late June and early July, the DIJ had the missing persons reports for Cher Hughes and Bo Icelar, however they never passed any information to the prosecutors of the Public Ministry, and a formal investigation wasn’t opened until I met with the Assistant to the Attorney General Neftali Jaen and brought it to his attention on 7 July 2010. So, the situation in Costa Rica is basically an exact repeat of what happened in Panama. As of Tuesday, 31 August 2010, the prosecutors of the Public Ministry in San Jose, Costa Rica have now formally and officially opened an investigation into the murder of American lawyer Jeffery A. Kline (and others), with William Dathan Holbert and Laura Michelle Reese as the primary suspects, based on my complaint and the information I have gathered as a result of my investigation into these events.
