I have a friend who has decided to join me for a two week trip to Costa Rica. I’m looking at properties for an eventual move. He is retired and just wants to come along for the ride. He is an avid fisherman and I’d like to spend one or two days giving him the opportunity to do some fishing. I’m not looking for deep water fish, just some places where my friend can dip his line in the water. We’d have to rent tackle and possibly a boat.

Can someone recommend a place where we can accomplish this? I’ll bet there’s a few people on the forum who are fishermen.

    Thanks,

I could not find one tackle shop in the central pacific area when I was looking to rent some gear. I was able too hire a local and his boat for 4 hours for about $200 and we did some inshore fishing. It included all the gear and fresh fruit, drinks etc…I just can not remember the name of this place, but it is a tico beach just south of Los Suenos, at the end of the road you go left instead of right to Los Suenos. We just drove in one afternoon and asked around, that’s how we found him. There is also an excellent fishing column in the Tico times and you can e mail him with questions.

http://www.junglejessietours.com Jungle Jessie can organize an inexpensive river fishing trip for you and I think the hotels in that area are really cheap to stay in. (To be up front with you Jessie is my future son-in-law and his business is very new) And there is rio parismina lodge out that way for ocean fishing. It’s not inexpensive. There’s another fishing lodge out there but I can’t recall the name of it. If you go to Rio Parismina Lodge I know a guide there named Alberto Ponce. He’s been guiding there for well over 20 years and he’s great at his job. I could find the link for the other place and post it or send it to you if you’re interested.
