We were thinking of going ultra cheap and taking an early mornign bus from SJO down to the Osa Peninsula. a 5 or 6 hour adventure. Anybody have personal experiences of this kind of thing? My daughter doesn’t have a grand sense of humor when she’s uncomfortable… bumpy / crowded / dirty, etc. We need to economize somewhere, and I thought we’d see more of the country this way. Anybody got stories?
The buses are fairly comfortable, but not air conditioned. They are not the feared “chicken buses” you hear about or may have experienced in other Latin American countries. It is a great way to see the country and travel economically. I think though you are looking more in the 6 to 8 hour range for that trip depending on the route. We have twice taken the buses from Jaco on the Pacific side all the way to Panama on the Caribbean side and enjoyed it.
