OK,
Athough we love it here and would not move back for anything, this IS a different culture. And when you live here for awhile that becomes much more obvious then when visiting on vacation. So below I have included 10 more things that frustrate me in Costa Rica. But in spite of the frustrations I love it here… What frustrates you about living here??
Top Ten Pet Peeves #2
10. Getting the wrong directions from locals who think that telling you they don’t know is rude.
9. Trucks using their left turn signal to say you can pass, then you find out they are turning left.
8. Locals nodding their head and saying yes they understand you when they don’t have a clue what you mean.
7. Wooden window manufacturers that tell you with the price you pay everything is included and when they install them you find out it doesn’t include the glass.
6. The difficulty in finding things you need. A lot of information is by word of mouth.
5. Locals cutting in front of you in the market like you are not there.
4. Paying higher prices than the locals for the same items or services.
3. Being robbed and knowing nothing is going to be done about it.
2. Knowing who the thief is and he waves and smiles at you when you see him.
1. Trying to prevent eye strain when surrounded by many beautiful Costa Rican Women (Ticas)In spite of this I love Costa Rica

One that I love is: Putting Laws in effect before thay are finish and saying that there going to inforce them.
But I still love it here!!!!October 3, 2009 at 2:49 pm #197984AndrewKeymaster#7 is hilarious!
And #5 is the same on the road, right? With anybody and everybody cutting in in front of you …
But I get my own back, I may not speak like a Tico yet but I can drive like a Tico…
Thanks for sharing ‘stevezim’

That’s my motto.
October 3, 2009 at 4:04 pm #197986DavidCMurrayParticipantWhat frustrates me the most is that the seasons never change. Nearly perfect weather year ’round. I have nothing left to complain about.
October 4, 2009 at 4:48 pm #197987enduroMemberI had to laugh at that one David… okay the weather is taken out of the complaints column… but there is still lots left… but you know when it comes down to it… we only complain because most of the time we know we are powerless to do anything about it!
October 4, 2009 at 8:08 pm #197988DavidCMurrayParticipantOh, I left one out . . . whiners!
October 5, 2009 at 4:27 am #197989enduroMemberI agree, and if there was an implication I was a whiner… well so be it, but I was actually making reference to everyone when I said “we”, I actually go by the principle that there is no point in complaining about generalities, because no-one can either do anything about it, or they don’t care… so why bother…

October 5, 2009 at 12:06 pm #197990DavidCMurrayParticipantI wasn’t referring to you, Brian, but to that unfortunate and unhappy legion of folks who aren’t happy if they aren’t complaining about something. Where would Tums and Rolaids be without them?
October 11, 2009 at 5:02 pm #197991guruMemberTHE LOUSY WEATHER:
We realized just how spoiled we were by the Costa Rica weather when we were sitting around one evening complaining how cold is was at 70°F rather than the 72°F it had been most of the day. . .
I’ve stopped making most of my complaints about Costa Rica in fear that someone will FIX them and prices will rise along with the country becoming more crowded. . .
October 13, 2009 at 1:17 pm #197992stevezimMemberMy #1 wasn’t really a negative thing, so I have a new one. #1. Taking your car to be repaired, and the guy repairs what’s wrong, but changes other good parts for bad ones he has laying around so you get the car back in worse shape than when you took it in.
October 13, 2009 at 2:02 pm #197993AndrewKeymasterYou don’t understand ‘stevezim’ 🙂
He’s using the same strategy for the engine parts as he uses for your tires so he rotates them from time to time. Give it a couple of years and you’ll have the original parts back in place….

WeLoveCostaRica.comPS. For those of you in doubt, I am indeed kidding.
October 13, 2009 at 5:13 pm #197994DavidCMurrayParticipant“Give it a couple of years and you’ll have the original parts back in place….”, eh, Scott? Of course, by then they’ll be used too.
