We are returning to CR next month to close on property just outside Neuvo Arenal. We read and re-read Scott’s book “How To Buy Costa Rica Real Estate Without Losing Your Camisa”. We followed his recommendations and used a Tico friend to help us negotiate the purchase and hire an excellent attorney/notary in Tiliran to research the property in the National Registry and draw up the Purchase Agreement. But we forgot one thing! We didn’t discuss Title Insurance, which is something we really want to have. Can anyone provide us help/suggestions?
Our Tico friend also made opening an account (in dollars)with Banco Nacional in Arenal a non event. Our check cleared in six business days.
Stewart Title Co., who advertises in Tico Times, offers title insurance in Costa Rica at 1% of the purchase price. My attorney, who was not involved in our latest real estate venture, says it’s a waste of money. Sadl¥, I can’t reconstruct his argument, but it was convincing.
I sent Stewart Title Co. an email inquiring about their services. My email was rejected because their email box was full! Don’t think I would be interested in their services if they are that far behind in responding to email inquiries.
Please help me to find this book! Sell me yours? “How To Buy Costa Rica Real Estate Without Losing Your Camisa” Where can I buy a copy?
