Has anyone had success paying municipal(property) taxes through BN?
I’m going mad trying to be creative with the “cedula juridica” number, but it still comes back with “validation error”. If I use “identificacion” field instead, the page comes back with “no pagos pendiente”, which I know isn’t true.
I’m trying to pay to the Garabito/Puntarenas prov. municipality.
Can anyone, please, help?
Thank you,
JuliaSeptember 17, 2012 at 11:59 pm #201328maravillaMemberdid you remove all the dashes in your cedula number?
September 18, 2012 at 2:46 am #201329costaricabillParticipantSounds like you have been successful with BNCR on-line banking activity in the past, but in addition to removing the dashes, I have never been able to get anything done on BNCR web site without adding to zeroes (00) to the end of my cedula number.
Hope that helps.September 18, 2012 at 10:57 pm #201330juliabMemberThank you for suggestions. Yes, I removed spaces and dashes. I also tried 1 zero, 2 and 3 zeroes on both sides. I also tried to omit the fist digit, then the next 3. Then I did all that and added zeroes.
Nothing works:-(I get either “Error al validar identificacion” if I use cedula juridica, or “Identificador sin pendiente” if I select identificacion.
Well, it looks like I’m out of luck. On the other hand I’ll give them another month. May be it’s one more error on their website. It took them several months to fix the previous screen error (before last week I got an error the moment I chose Garabito from the drop-down).
I’ll let you know if/when I succeed with the payment.
September 18, 2012 at 10:59 pm #201331maravillaMemberwhere exactly do you have to pay this tax if you had to pay it in person?
September 19, 2012 at 8:04 pm #201332juliabMemberI can pay it in person in Jaco in the municipaity. Very easy to do. Unfortunately it’s a VERY long drive for me (that I’m trying to avoid.) I guess, I’ll keep trying with the bank page.
September 19, 2012 at 10:23 pm #201333DavidCMurrayParticipantIf you’re here in Costa Rica, could you take the low-tech approach and pay your taxes at your nearest local Banco Nacional office, or is that the one in Jaco?
September 19, 2012 at 10:34 pm #201334juliabMemberDavid,
The only way to pay this tax is either online or in person in Jaco. At least that’s what I was told.
I’ve been paying it in person for years. Wasn’t a big deal at all. Unfortunately now I can’t drive there for health reasons. I don’t think I’ll be in trouble if I don’t pay for a year or two. I believe they only auction a property after 3 years of not paying pr-ty taxes. The penalty isn’t that big, so not worth risking a long drive.September 20, 2012 at 12:51 pm #201335orcas0606ParticipantI suggest that you go to the customer service platform at the nearest BN agency and ask them to help you set up your payment process. I have done this several times and they have always helped out “con mucho gusto”
September 22, 2012 at 1:50 am #201336elindermullerMemberThe only disadvantage of paying online is that you can not pay in advance (you pay every 3 months), therefore you do not get the discount you will get at the local municipality office. I paid online seveal times and never had problems (Municipality Tilaran)

The taxes have to be paid through Banco de Costa Rica if I am not mistaken.January 8, 2013 at 6:21 pm #201340costaricabillParticipantDoes anyone know if you can pay the municipal taxes in person at BNCR or BCR?
January 10, 2013 at 2:47 am #201341srigsbyMemberWe owe property tax and corporation tax at this time. Can they both be paid in person at one of the banks? Which of the banks would that be ?
