As the web site master, you have a lot more latitude to clearly state what you believe and as most Brits, Scots and Irish (I have several friends of each), blunt and to the point. A very interesting comment from a contributor to MSN Money:
The next burst of value is not likely to come in the United States and Europe, however, as our supply of talented people has grown faster than our supply of jobs. Wages are going down, the average age is going up, and arable farmland is shrinking. And at a time when we need smart investment in physical and infrastructure more than ever, our government has decided to spend the nation’s rebounding abundance on a cockeyed concept of fairness — trying to make everyone even, regardless of merit, rather than letting the smart and ambitious use their funds to create jobs and wealth.
December 10, 2009 at 6:48 pm #166223AndrewKeymasterSurely grb1063 – You too are allowed to “clearly state what you believe” in, no?
And let’s not forget that the government is wasting hundreds of billions of dollars (some say trillions) in their illegal “wars” in Iraq, Afghanistan and now happily assassinating people by remote control in Pakistan.
“The technology revolution has transformed organizations across the private sector, but not ours, not fully, not yet. We are, as they say, tangled in our anchor chain. Our financial systems are decades old. According to some estimates, we cannot track $2.3 trillion in transactions…” Remarks as Delivered by Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, The Pentagon, Monday, September 10, 2001

December 10, 2009 at 7:45 pm #166225soldierMemberScott,
The following is very accurate in terms of your information.
“Between April 2003 and June 2004, $12 billion in U.S. currency—much of it belonging to the Iraqi people—was shipped from the Federal Reserve to Baghdad.” In addition, the U.S. had weekly covert flights of C-141 aircraft and C-130 aircraft into Iraq from the U.S. The planes were loaded with pallets containing new $100.00 bills, in packets of millions. U.S. security was provided for the planes, and while the millions/billions in cash were transferred to Iraqi armoured cars. U.S. security followed behind the Iraqi armoured cars, Iraqi personnel in the armoured cars were shooting at on-coming cars and trucks with civilians, just to clear the roads of traffic. There are now some very rich Iraqi soldiers, police and politicians in Iraq. Then there are the duffle bags full of $20.00 bills ($25,000 each month), used by the U.S. to pay the Sunni insurgents each month not to shoot at our troops. I could go on and on, yet, the U.S. has soldiers and their families qualifying for food stamps. And, disabled veterans have to face disability denials and years of fighting with the Department of Veterans Affairs to collect disability compensation. I do not know which is worse, the insurgents, corrupt Iraqi government officials or the greedy American contractors in Iraq. When will America realize that we will loss both our current wars. After over 21 years of government service, I decided to live a Pura Vida life.December 11, 2009 at 2:53 pm #166226claytonMemberPretty much on point however we have a bit of a blend here.
1) Our president is doing away with national pride, given his questionable heritage and in favor of our world citizenry.
2) Suppression of personal rights in the name of the collective.
3) There are real enemies amongst us, and they just arrested 5 more in Pakistan.
4) Our Commander in Chief has turned his back on our freedom fighters and they may save us yet.
5) Sexism is rampant alright in a most perverted way, anything goes.
6) Definitely attempts here and it ain’t over yet.
7) The current Administration almost refuses to acknowledge the threat, it is real.
8) A nation founded on judeo-christian beliefs, forsaken so as not to offend anyone, pleasssseeee.
9) The most anti capitalist administration ever unless you are doing their bidding.
10) No suppression here, they are all in bed together. 2 million union members dictating policy for 300 million Americans.
11) Agree
12) This Administration would love to have their own police force.
13) To the Nth degree, Chicago style.
14) This may prove to be true, from the fraudulent voter registration to the intimidation at polling places by the Black Panthers.Fascism and Socialism, coming to an America near you.
December 11, 2009 at 8:25 pm #166227DavidCMurrayParticipant1) What’s the question about Obama’s heritage? You’re not still yapping that “born in Kenya” malarky, are you? No sane person puts any stock in that bullsh*t nor did they ever.
That said, if you’re going to stick to that line of crap, then first prove your own sterling heritage. Show us incontrovertible proof that you’re an American citizen. Remember, President Obama has provided a copy of his validated, certified Hawaiian birth certificate. It’s as official and verified as any document could be, and much more convincing than the series of clumsy forgeries that your ilk has ginned up. If that’s not good enough to prove where he was born, just what will you be providing that’s more convincing to prove where you were born?
2) You are referring to Bush’s Patriot Act, right?
3) There have always been real enemies among us. What’s the news? The five recently arrested in Pakistan are not “among us”, so they don’t count. Whom else can you name?
4) Sending 30,000 more forces to bolster those currently in Afghanistan is “turning his back” on them? What would be supporting them?
5) What new sexism can you attribute to Obama? Details, please.
6) Means what?
7) This would be in contrast to (say) the early months of the Bush Administration that brought us 9/11. So far, at least, where are all the dead bodies you can attribute to Obama?
8) Means what?
9) The bailout of the Wall Street banks at the expense of the taxpayers generally you characterize as “anti-capitalist”? What would be pro-capitalist, in your worldview?
10) If unions were really dictating public policy, it wouldn’t be characteristic of fascism, would it? Just which policies (names, please) have they dictated lately?
11) Agree with what? Please say more.
12) This administration has had its own police force all along, as have administrations for the past eighty years. You may be familiar with the FBI. Oh, and the DEA. Oh, and the Coast Guard. Oh, and the National Park Service. Oh, and the Secret Service. Oh, and the military police. Oh, and . . .
Interestingly, the Obama Administration didn’t establish any of these. Not one. It inherited them all.
So, which one(s) would you disband?
13) “Chicago style” — pizza?
14) Interesting that you didn’t mention wholesale Republication “cleansing” of the Florida voter registration rolls prior to the 2000 election or the Republican voter intimidation in Florida which may have singlehandedly handed the 2000 election to Bush the Lesser. You also overlooked the Republican-led blocking of the vote counting in Florida in the wake of that election. You recall, of course, that a significant number of Republican congressional staffers were filmed there.
December 12, 2009 at 2:47 pm #166228PhilharmonicMemberGuess what? When America loses it’s Triple “A” rating and The US becomes a Banana Republic, Then allot of Americans will be showing up on Costa Rica’s Threshold seeking Asylum. Now that Costa Rica is also going the way with High taxes, and other job killing measures, the only thing CR will have going for it will be a Dwindeling Tourist market and Americans leaving, and finding another place that hasn’t fallen to the Liberal Leftist Control Machine. Oh wait, There won’t be another place. Cap and Trade, Health Care, and all the other schemes by Crooked Politicians are only designed to control and keep people in Perpetual Poverty and Slavery. Welcome to the NEW WORLD ORDER. Honduras had it Right, Throw out the Bum who wants to follow in Hugo Chavez’s Shadow. America can take a lesson from them, follow the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and live up to it’s Ideals.

Called the Blame Bush syndrom.
It is actually The American People who is to blame, for being so Lazy as to let the Government of the People, by the People and for the People, get so out of control as we are to be dictated to by our own government, instead of them being dictated to by us. We only have ourselves to blame.December 12, 2009 at 7:08 pm #166230claytonMemberThanks David nice try. Life long Government Employee with a government pension that your state tax payers pay, right? Having spent 3 years as a civil engineer in my city I can’t say I hold city/government employees in the highest regard. It just explains where it is coming from. However, I appreciate much of what you bring to this forum, just not your politics. To each his own, sorry to have brought mine, but I still live in this country for now and I am going to fight tooth and nail to alter the direction it is headed in.
1) I said heritage not citizenship, big difference. It would be nice to be proud of America not apologetic as our President.
2) Afraid of a little international targeted ease dropping for our protection. I can’t condone it either. But I’ve got nothing to hide.
3) Maj. Nadil Malik Hasan , Fort Hood Texas and plenty others identified before they got this far. Heaven forbid we should profile anyone.
4) Half hearted attempt under pressure, finally made the right call, oh, but just hunker down and wait and we will all be gone in 2011. Nice speech in Norway. Great orator. But that’s all it was. What else would you like him to tell you? He can dial in his teleprompter.
5) Obama doesn’t need any help here he has the whole Democratic Party behind him. Go Nannyville California!
6) Cass Sunstein “free speech needs to be limited for the common good”, Mark Lloyd Diversity czar who complemented Hugo Chavez control of TV and radio to win his socialistic efforts and dictatorship. Watch for the Fairness Doctrine to return.
7) I hope you are not one of those that think the government orchestrated the death of 3200+ Americans on 9-11. Wasn’t Clinton President for the prior 8 years?
8) Means #8 sorry.
9) Let some fail and prop up others (?), save the auto industry to protect the unions and now watch them unload their legacy debt on the American people with free health care. Seems Ford is doing well without a bailout.
10) Gee who wrote the Houses Health Care Bill, it sure wasn’t the Congressmen and women, and they won’t even read it. Andy Sterns ,SEIU, go unions!!!!
11) I’ll let this one go. Most of the outrage is just a bunch of liberals defending their man. Can’t say its art. Sorry
12) Obama “I want to have a civil army as well equipped and funded as the military”. Why, what are you afraid of? The American People? We are coming for you in 2012.
13) Gee, you made a funny. I won’t take the time to explain this. Have you read Michelle Malkins book Culture of Corruption, take the time.
14) I guess I missed the intimidation, but if you say it’s so it must be. No mention of all the lost absentee votes from our military in Florida. I’m sure they were voting for Gore. And Speedo those Speedo’s must be a couple sizes to small. I don’t even watch Rush, to loud and obnoxious much like your comment.Typical name calling and attempted intimidation from the progressive liberal side.
December 13, 2009 at 12:56 pm #166231DavidCMurrayParticipantNice try, but no cigar. First off, I’m not a lifelong public employee. I worked in both the public and private sectors after having first done my duty and served (honorably) in the U.S. Navy.
Second, my State of Michigan pension is a form of deferred compensation paid in lieu of either a wage that ever kept up with the rate of inflation of the cost of living or which I had any influence over whatsoever. I invested in that pension with deductions from my savings for a few years until the State took over making those investments one year in lieu of any pay raise whatsoever. Trust me. I’ve paid my way.
Now, as an engineer accustomed to doing things in a scientifically exact way, just how do you measure the deterioration in our American heritage (your first point) and what is the causal link to something that President Obama has done? What’s the unit of measure? What’s the source of your data? Detail the cause and effect for us, please.
December 13, 2009 at 5:12 pm #166232PhilharmonicMemberNot to answer for Clayton, but ask 10 people on the street and probably 8 out of 10 could not tell you what the 1st amendement is or the 2nd. as well, not to mention all the rest of the Bill Of Rights. Probably 60% of Americans have no clue what the Constitution even says. Do you think they even know who Benjerman Franklin was or John Adams. Some probably don’t know who George Washington was. The Dumbing Down of America is by Design, to better control the masses. An uneducated populace is easier to control, especially if they don’t have a clue what their rights are. I thank God for Obama, he has done a good job on educating some Americans what Socialism/Communism/Fascism is all about. Those who voted for him are beginning to see what distructive policies he has endorsed and who he chooses to surround himself with i.e. Czars, he has appointed. This trend towards Socialism was started over 60 years ago maybe even more. Incrementalism is the key word. Obama has just quickened the pace towards that end. Proof is in his policies.
December 18, 2009 at 3:28 pm #166233waggoner41Member
I must confess that I do NOT understand the concept that the US is moving towards “socialism.”
Surely we are talking about fascism…?
The fourteen characteristics of fascism from [ http://www.fascismusa.com/ ]
1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism – Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights – Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of “need.” The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause – The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
4. Supremacy of the Military – Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
5. Rampant Sexism – The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.
6. Controlled Mass Media – Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
7. Obsession with National Security – Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
8. Religion and Government are Intertwined – Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government’s policies or actions.
9. Corporate Power is Protected – The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
10. Labor Power is Suppressed – Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts – Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.
12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment – Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.
13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption – Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
14. Fraudulent Elections – Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
That sounds like a description of the George W. Bush administration.

There are those who believe that when Obama became president he was responsible for all of the problems he inherited.
You an I disagree on term limits but I would hate to see another inept term with GWB.
Before he was elected I said he was a failure at everything he attempted now we can add president of the U.S. to that list.
With Cheney and all of the appointees that were tied to Project for a New American Century the administration had a definite leaning toward Fascism.

Everything he inherited is now his… and he still can’t get it right. Guess he is just doing what GWB did. Kinda pissing the left off. The right don’t have a seat at the table. Rest assured that as soon as Obama tricks you into having availability to medical services for all people…he and his negro army will be coming to take your guns.
