Bias polls become statistics? I guess the only lesson to be learned is that you guys made out under the politics of division and fear, so why change your tactics. There certainly isn’t a spark of intellect behind such comments as above. Sad, just sad. Aren’t you worried that the hammer wielded by the Bush/Cheney gang has changed hands, and the new regime declares “You are with us…or against us”, and applies the same screws…to you? Oh, they are liberals, they don’t do such things.

Odd thing about polls, Ed. When they support a position you agree with, they’re good as gospel. But when they don’t, they’re obviously “biased”.

Simple fact is: Americans from both sides of the aisle are waking up to the devilish details the self-serving bum pols have inserted into this bill, and they don’t like it. For example: How could well-intentioned law makers allow language to be inserted into a bill that gives preferential treatment to citizens based on racial guidelines (YES)and not expect to be called out on it?

While I believe that the majority of us would like to see an improvement in our health care delivery system, this pig-in-a-poke sure isn’t it.

All the proof I need to be against it is that the political class has allowed only one group to be exempted from participating in this plan: themselves. Q.E.D.

On the subject of our political system, it seems that no good comes from having one political party control both the executive and legislative branches. We’ve seen it before under Carter, Clinton, Bush II, and now Obama. It just never works out well. They always feel they have a mandate to do stupid things, resulting in being tossed out on their asses in the mid-term elections.

2010 will be no different; I’m predicting a slaughter. Will the Republicans have learned from their last go-round? Doubtful; but it will put the brakes on Obama’s megalomania for two more years until he too is sent packing. Unless of course he tries to pull a Chavez/Zelaya constitutional end run; then it will be pitchforks and torch time.

So, I guess we have something in common: a complete distrust of the political class, eh?

how do the political class continue to end up in power, postalx?

They have perfected the self-perpetuating system. Outsiders and true populists are marginalized, ridiculed and shunned with the compliant press as their running dog lackeys..

Through the slimeball politician’s tool of class warfare, they pit us against each other, while singing kumbeya and acting as if they’re the healers of society’s shortcomings.

A potential wake up call could be a rule/law that all lawyers in government have to wear red. As people see the sea of red in all 3 branches, a realization might set in. In that group, how many of those lawyers are criminal trial lawyers? Ha. Gosh, corporate sorts. Wonder where theie loyalties and vested interests lie, as they do their government sabbaticals before they return to their real jobs.
Speaking of polls, what are the least respected professions in the good ol’ states?
I admit I don’t read the laws/bills. This is part of the equation, bills written by lawyers so, obviously, only lawyers can read them. Its a beautiful thing.

The proof that your statements are correct is that in this HealthCare reform bill, the original thread from which we have seriously digressed, there is nothing in over 1,000 sections of the bill; not even a mention, of controlling costs though tort reform. Law by lawyers, for lawyers.

Paint ’em red! I like it!

There would be no class warfare as a controlling tool if there were no classes. If you accept that some people can take more than others from the common pool of resources, then you accept the inevitable class struggle amd you are siding with the oppressors.

Pure logic, there, no political bias. I know from experience that when you give a right winger enough rope, he will hang himself with his own logic.

“If you accept that some people can take more than others from the common pool of resources, then you accept the inevitable class struggle and you are siding with the oppressors.”

I posit that the resources are there to be utilized by those willing to take the initiative. Those who cannot be bothered because it’s “too hard” have little say in how the cookie crumbles. Using your talents in this world should not automatically get you blacklisted as an “oppressor”.

There is a parable about the sheep, the wolves and the sheepdogs that you might find illuminating once you dry your tears and can see clearly.

Why is it that conservatives have so much trouble with the basic concept of limited resources. This is a finite world. The planet is round, it doesn’t go on forever.

People with initiative is never a problem as long as the initiative is properly directed and backed with a sustainable morality. Hitler had initiative. Thieves and murderers have initiative. The capitalists who brought down our economy had initiative.

Conservatives need to start thinking things through better.

And why is it that liberals insist upon experimenting in unknown areas way beyond their expertise, causing mayhem in markets and lives, all for the sake of some unobtainable social utopia. The law of unintended consequences always rears up and bites you libs in the a** whenever you try this crap. But do you learn? Hell no! You just ask for more funding and try it again! Dopes!

Socialism / Marxism / Communism has been tried repeatedly in various forms and venues for over a century, and all that has resulted is pervasive misery and the deaths of over 100 million people that didn’t want to adhere to the doctrine. No one is less tolerant than a liberal spurned!

Yeah, I know. THIS time, you’ll get it right! After all you’re so much smarter than those others. NOT!

Just a thought. It seems that (to some) the opposite of conservative is liberal. N’est pas? Hmmm, This spectrum seems skewed to me. I have heard, ranted about, “liberal” federal judges. Ha, there is no such animal. Less conservative, maybe. More “subtle” in their approach, maybe. Not liberal. The most obvious examples, besides judges, are…yeah, you got it…Ben Laden and Bush. Both willing to do WHATEVER in their approaches to how life has got to be. Bomb, machine gun, blow up, collateral damage be damned. There are no innocents in their approaches, you are with them…or against them. I would classify both as…dare I say it…conservative.
What may be “refreshing” about this kind of human is that they are out there with their points of view. The fence setters and exploiters are more…hmmmm, in their way.. insidious and damaging. Praise the Lord and buy Boeing stock. Vote the “right” way. Keep the machinery oiled.
In this ongoing discussion, it seems Stalin, and even Hitler were given as examples of leaders of socialist regimes/doctrines. Can anyone suggest they might also be called liberals?

I had this dream. A history dream. Indulge me. Early 30’s – 1945. Hitler is backed and supported by the industrialists and the army. The military/industrial complex. 1939-1942. Hitlers war machine is partially supplied by – WOW – Russia’s industrialists and army. Their military/industrial complex (yeah, it existed). 1941-1945. Germany’s and Allied (US!!??) industrialists smooze, whore, frolic and plan together in Portugal and Spain. WHAT? Can’t be true, huh? My spirit floated above this conversation. “Hey, you backed the wrong horse, some payback coming, but don’t worry…we got a PLAN.” 1945. Long after the Nazi’s are kaput, the GREATEST air raids and firebombing is done by Allied bombers, leveling the industries and cities. 1947. The Marshall Plan, trumpeted by all as the greatest humanitarian effort every made (those damn liberals at work, I guess). But, my dream painted this picture. The industries leveled are rebuilt, with US taxpayer money. The industrialists (notable example, scion Krupp, convicted war criminal) are pardoned and they are given EVERYTHING back. 1947 – present. Not one lousy dime repaid. Status quo, samo samo, except of course, WE showed them how to do it right. Partner’s for life.
    Was that a dream?
