We are living in Quepos, and we are trying to find a more economical place to buy some 20-30 lb. dumbells.
We are headed into Escazu, specifically to meet someone briefly at the Mall, and would like to know if there is somewhere around there that might be cheaper then here.
One suggestion is the Pricemart that we are told is very close to the Mall. We only venture into the Central Vally rarely, and usually only to the airport, and so don’t have a lot of confidence to drive around too much. If anybody has any ideas for the area pretty close to the mall, we will very much appreciate it.
Just so you know, the idea of making our own has already come and gone…….Thanks.There is a store in Plaza Itzkatsu (ground floor) that sells different weight systems, they are NOT cheap but they are good.
Plaza Itzkatsu is the mall on the opposite side of the highway to Office Depot just down the road from MultiPlaza
I don’t know about weights, but you can find all the Dumbells you need in a place called Washington D.C.
…sorry, couldn’t resist.
You could try Hipermas which is just off the exit from the autopista that’s one closer to San Jose than PriceSmart, or you could try Cemaco in Alajuela which isn’t too far from the airport. The latter has a fairly large assortment of exercise machines and may have dumbells.

Almost every mall in the valley has a sports store/ Multi Plaza, Mall Cariari etc… they will have the classic style weights and bars for a reasonable price.
Thanks all, it sounds like we’ll find what we need when we get up there. I now officially release my post to those of you that feel the need to change this into a political thread…….
