I have been doing some research about laptops and routers. The computer receivers and the routers transmitters utilize “A, G and the newer N” technologies. If you have a laptop that receives in A or G, it will not have the capability to receive the newer N technology. Therefore, if you spend more money for an N router to transmit your wireless signal, but your laptop only receives G, you are wasting your money. I viewed several new laptops that receive the N signal and they were $1200 and up. The laptops that are now priced lower have wireless receivers of the G technology. It makes more sense to purchase a router that is compatible with the receiver in your laptop.
