I had written two paragraphs about flying to CR but before I could post my message, I was automatically logged out. I was notified that this was due to inactivity, but there was less than one minute since my last keystroke. Is there some way to increase the inactivity time before being automatically logged off the site?

I’m answering my own question here. I found that it’s smart to compose my message in Microsoft Word and then copy and paste the text into the message window.

    Thanks for your help everyone!

I agree the timeouts are a pesky. I usually will open a dozen or so pages in advance in a tabbed browser only to have the time out boxes popping up for each one of my tabs. I eventually get annoyed and shut all my tabs, which is lost information and articles that I had planned on reading.

I agree and have had the same irritating experience on a couple of occasions

Please give me a few days to look into it… And bear in mind that it’s a BIG public holiday here (Semana Santa) until next Tuesday and even then not many people will be working too hard.

I am told that if a person keeps opening multiple new windows, as long as there is any activity between screens in a 20 minute period, we should not see this message.

Supposedly, if we are seeing the inactivity message sooner than that, something is going on with the browser.

The autologout is an important part of the built in security system and prevents people from getting locked out due to a dual login if they go from work to home.

By the time they get there, the other session would be logged out so that it does not trip the dual login detection mechanism.

Can you PLEASE tell me what browser you are using?

    Scott

PS. Must admit since I stopped using FireFox, I don’t think I have had this problem.

I use Firefox, since it is the most advanced tabbed browser available. It is wonderful for research since I can have a 5 browsers open at any specific time with all the tabs in each browser going. Yes, I am a internet researching addict!

I belong to a number of forums and none have the log out feature.

If you can’t get it fixed, I suppose I can switch to using the Maxthon tabbed browser, which at least is a step between the internet explorer(antique)and firefox(most innovative).
