David:
what you posted is another matter (baby boomers) BB
52 million people collect SSA as of 2010 and the BB have not reached the ZENIT yet
just wait intil 2020 and it is projected that 72 million will collect SSA benefits and not only because of the BB #’s but because life expectancy is growing
and regardless if you are a Dem, Rep, independent voter; they vote in a block form when it comes to their benefits’ with no political affiliation
remember when GWB wanted to privatize the SSA??? “NO DICE” was the answer from the American public and it did not happen
and with 3 years of no COLA to SSA recipients while the Medicare costs are going up a quiet dissatisfaction is developing with the GREY masses
we bail out the auto makers, banks, mortgage industries, etc.. and not our senior citizens?? then you better WATCH out!!
Santa Claus is comming to town
warren
aguirrewarMemberI don’t think so Scott:
80% of the people 55 years of age and older do vote in every election in the USA
modifying the SSA payments would mean a political SUICIDE for those that propose it
before they even think of changes to the SSA they would have to decimate the
Department of Defense
Foreign Aid
Entitlements
Change the Tax Codes
etc..warren
December 7, 2010 at 10:38 pm in reply to: Thank You & Please Consider Voting for Lighthouse Animal Rescue #198619aguirrewarMemberI just voted for Atenas, Mexico is in 1’st place, for now.
have rescued and adopted 5 dogs in my life, all abandoned or strays and note one of them gave me any trouble, some lasted 5 years and others 12.
my latest addition is a 12 pound Dachshund, unknowned age and after $500.00 in bills from the VET and 2 years with me I would not trade him for Lassie.
Christmas is coming and I beg you to not do an impulse buy on a puppy for the holidays, a dog is a commitment and is a 24/7 responsibility.
that puppy might look CUTE but they grow and have to be trained and that takes time, energy and money.
I still remember the DEBACLE that happened when the movie the 101 Dalmations come from Disney, everyone wanted one and the puppy mills’ where churning them at an alarming rate.
GUESS what happened 6 to 12 months later?? when the FAD went away, the shelters had thousands of dalmations because the owners could not handle them.
the Dalmations are not the most intelligent dog species and very hard to train compared to the Poodle
same sad story with the Pit Bull
but the HORROR story of all of them is the Greyhound, breed to run and run they do but if they have any TYPE of accident then they are discarded in a SECOND
you will not find a better companion than a Greyhound, they are loyal, affectionate, submissive, calm, intelligent and they get along with any other animal
you can walk them and they will not pull you but on a open field with you trowing a toy they are like “FLASH GORDON”
I hope lighthouse wins

aguirrewarMemberThen RUN and keep on running and you have thought you fixed your problem.
Run all you want and escape.
When the time comes in the real CRUNCH to look at the problem in the EYE, it is easiest TO run and many do this
While running, please look back and find some that will stand their ground and NOT run.
And while you are running away, some are running HEAD on to the problem. WHO runs away from the problem and WHO runs to fix it??
You need to read some History books. May I interest you in the “Charge of the Light Brigade”. DEAD if they charged and DEAD if they did not but charged they did.
Would you watch the walls of your neighbors fall little by little while your house is still INTACT, when eventually you know you will be next???
You are secured while you have someone next to you and they are secured also.
Don’t protect your shadow and you lose your body.
TAKE CARE
see you in CR in 2014

aguirrewarMemberout of 100% divided by 4 you have 25%
out of 1 divided by 4 you have .25
is .25 different than 25%
warren
aguirrewarMembersimple economics
transfer $1,000 dollars NOW for 500 colones = 500,00 colones
and if the dollar goes to 400 colones
500,000 colones divided by 400 = $1,250 dollars
you just made @ .25% profit

aguirrewarMembertime to tell you who I am.
3 kids
one in Iraq in the Army, another unemployed and the 3’rd GROWING happythe glory day’s of the USA are over and the 20’th Century will MARK that stage
but England, France and Spain had those days’ and they still exist today as stable countries and so will the USA
the emerging countries like Brazil and China are rising because they image what the USA was in the 1950-60
we have been corrupted just like ROME was and will fall out of grace (take that to the Bank) and CASH it
with a CAVEAT, I would like to the USA to be remembered in History of the next 300-500 years just as England, a powerhouse in the world with all it’s mistake’s
WE have teached the world what Democracy and Capitalism can do for the people, meaning the GOOD ones not the ones we have in DC now
My most admired theme in live is “We the People” it is not ours only it belongs to the poor in Haiti the slums in Brazil and the illegal immigrants all over the world looking for a better life
If I have ruffled some feathers in this forum, I apologise but the times are HARD and they will test the weak and strong alike
and that test is happening now, “WHO!! will take the challenge and realize that we are really fighting not for ourselves but for the next generation be that in the USA, Costa Rica, Africa???
I can say that “I make good money” have A GOOD PAYING JOB AND IT MEANS bean’s to me COMPARED TO MY CHILDREN, I want them to live the same quality of live I live. Want them to invite me to their house and serve me a good meal but that is not the case, for a good meal they have to come to my house. Is this to much to ask???
my rant is over and my fight is here in the USA
warren
aguirrewarMemberSave your lolly pop’s for the next one and SIR; you have NO cultural advantage over others by any means you try to explain yourself, even if you had 10 kids’ in Puerto Rico a cousin in China and a grandmother in Cuba besides your illiterate friends
VOTE!!
you have one day to elect to office a crook or a mayor, senator, whatever
and they have 4 years to tell you what to do
maybe you should consider that one day you and I have to vote prudently and choose the least poison for all of us
nothing is PERFECT, do you suggest any ideas to fix this dilema
complain all you want and get NO-where, vote and be active in your community and make a difference
WHO!! created trillions of dollars??
one department of the Goverment is the RIGHT answer
and WHO elected these people??
not you!!! but those that voted for them
want to get rid of them???
vote against them and KICK them out of office
your CONSEQUENCES are nothing compared of what will happen to all of us be it in the USA or Costa Rica
do you relly fell insulated because you live in Costa Rica and the economic ripple effects will not affect you
sure hope you do not have SS or a retirement account in dollars deposited in a bank of Costa Rica because if you THINK for a moment that we in the USA will take a hit and you will NOT then dream on
you fix your home before you fix your neighbors house and the USA is home
just look at the UK, Greece, France, Ireland and all of Europe, they are bitting the poison pill while people like YOU decide to fix the world with WORDS
now is not the time to speak but to act
every 2 years you have the right to VOTE, DO IT
aguirrewarMemberwell you need another correction
Cuba is not Puerto Rico and portorra is slang in Cuba and in the island of Puerto Rico it is “pUertoriquena”, notice the U
that is the correct way in PR but you take to much liberties with other cultures and with other countries and with history
maybe you should write about the last 1,000 years of the history of mankind from your “Portorra” mind and perspective
I will let my children and YOUR’s write the future
seems like you like to look at the back REAR mirror and not the glass in front of you
enjoy your quiet, tranquil, easy life. I will stand and fight for your rights and mine in the USA
it won’t be easy but I will not give up until my children and your’s and everyone else has the same quality of life my parents’ and I had
that is the legacy we leave to the next generation to be able to live better than ourselves
you have showed your true COLORS
aguirrewarMemberCasado con una Puertoriquena (correction) Puerto Rico
You have doubt’s of what the USA is?? many. Democracy does not work well with VIOLENCE but with votes at the election polls and we are getting closer every day
Are you really looking for sign’s or is the blind leading the ones’ with a 20/20 eyesight
Do you really think that history repeats itself?? Then we would be trading and bartering, not in this world economy
and I stress WORLD from other countries like India, China, Germany, Spain etc. etc. etc.
and the world does not mean ONLY wall street, other markets get to play in the equation and they influence each other
you would not be perched up in that tall tree if it was not for what you made of yourself in the USA, try that in Haiti or a 4’th world country
nice that you have a computer to answer, you must have real $$$ compared to 50% of the population in this world
are we really SINKING or is it PAST TENSE and we are ready to correct ourself’s
are you surrendering??
are you giving UP???
pity we have people that will not fight for their survivol and for these around them
auto-survival is selfish
who are you??
aguirrewarMember“But it is arrogant and naive to believe the US is the only savior of civilization”
you need your analytical mind to start functioning in the right place, before the USA there was Greece
READ again what I wrote
I am not a GRINGO
naci en la isla de Puerto Rico y estoy casado con una Tica, soy Hispano, hablo perfecto Espanol y Ingles, lo escribo y lo leo muy bien
entendiste!!!
back to the basic’s; there is a quiet revolution in the USA and REAL changes are going to happen, get your seatbelt ON because the ride will be bumpy
and this is not about politics but about REALITY
a 13 TRILLION debt
2 wars
and a burst bubble in the economy
TIME to wake up, the ship is sinking
you save it or you lose it???
make up your mind on what to do NOW!!!!
aguirrewarMemberpoppy corn;
it’s not going to happen
you THINK the world will still exists without the USA???
maybe you think!!! Costa Rica is the escape hatch
the battle is won or lost at the front line and not 2,000 miles away. I am here to fight the battle and some are hiding or even surrendering before the 1’st shot is fired
WORST case scenario is that we lose it all and I mean ALL then what happens???
our 2’nd, 3’rd generation will start all over, again and again
want to escape!! don’t pick Costa Rica, look at the Moon or Mars
I love to hear and read the prophets of gloom and doom when the chips are down
and for all of you that think that if you escape the problem by moving to a different geographycal area you will be INSULATED, good luck!!!
“We the People” did not start in the USA, it comes from Greece, thousands of years ago, it’s called DEMOCRACY now
you can keep playing your little games since I have to find way’s to solve a problem in my homeland
is this the real “the sky is falling” syndrome???
not for ME
aguirrewarMemberThe above post is correct. I have been aware for years about this issue.
What kills using your IRA to purchase and land, house or building is as Scott wrote;
The following are examples of prohibited transactions with a traditional IRA.
* Borrowing money from it.
* Selling property to it.
* Receiving unreasonable compensation for managing it.
* Using it as security for a loan.
* Buying property for personal use (present or future) with IRA funds.warren
aguirrewarMember“The general conditions for the use of the IRA funds, are that the real estate purchase be for investment purposes and not for the personal use of the principal IRA Account holder.”
This is the problem; investment is the key word not for personal use of the IRA .
warren
aguirrewarMemberDone with your rant???
Or are you trying to impresed someone??
The fact is you live in a secluded BUBBLE and not with the reality Ticos live. Not the middle class Ticos but 80% of them, under that category.
Not that I am poor or that my extended family in CR is either, they work for ICE, Casa Amarilla (Department of State equivalent), teachers and all educated and middle class.
None of them retired because they can’t and not because they can.
Typical Gringo answer is (I am OK) living here. Ask a Tico how he is doing?? and find out the real CR.
In the meantime enyoy it while it lasts, because you are happier and a whole lot better when you have real TICO family, friends around you.
Or did you leave the USA to surround yourself with Gringos in CR??
