I have just sent the following email to them:
Hi, my name is Scott Oliver at WeLoveCostaRica.com and I am writing another article about the “new international airport at Orotina” and would like to ask you where you got your information from that you have on your website here.
I would be very grateful if you would share your sources, preferably reputable sources in Costa Rica like the aviation authority, La Nacion or El Financiero that would confirm this data as it would be very helpful to me.
1. Who said the airport was “previously slated to begin construction in 2025?”
2. Where can I find confirmation that “construction on the new Costa Rica airport to begin in 2018?”
3. Which “industry experts in Costa Rica real estate” exactly are “predicting the new Orotina International Airport to be a major catalyst in the next Costa Rica real estate development and continuing tourism boom?”
4. What data exactly are you using to come to the conclusion that: “The tourism boom is spilling over into the Costa Rica real estate market at an exponential rate?”
5. Can you show me any reputable source that would confirm that: “The concept is to construct a Central American Mega Worldport that would connect “the heart” of Latin America with the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia?”
6. Can you show me any reputable source that would confirm that: “The Orotina International Airport will double in size in comparison to Juan Santamaria. It will have two runways and a super terminal to accommodate larger airliners including the Airbus A-380s, A-350s and Boeing’s 747-800s, 777s and the 787s Dreamliners?”
7. Lastly, your company appears to have a few different related websites including:
palmsintl.com/
costaricadevelopmentproperty.com/
palmsintlrealestatecostarica.com/fractional-ownership/… yet there is not a single person listed on any of them, no Realtors, no presidents, no Vice-Presidents, no ‘About Us’ page, would you please tell me where can I find out more information about your company and who is involved?
I look forward to hearing from you …
AndrewKeymasterAch! Come on man! That was obviously a light-hearted comment with a big smiley face on it …
AndrewKeymasterNow I think about it, I’ll have to check why my filter didn’t filter that out …
I know it is programmed to filter our really bad words like ‘sweikert’ and similar stuff 😀 but will double-check…

AndrewKeymasterIt’s one of those websites with not a single human being listed …
No names… No ‘About Us’ page… Nothing…
AndrewKeymasterYep!
Smells like bullshit to me too but I’ll try and find out more…

AndrewKeymasterIsn’t this Law 8204 just the equivalent of the KYC (Know Your Client) rules that we have in most developed countries?

AndrewKeymasterYou can’t pay online at your bank and have them deliver the marchamo to whatever address you want in Costa Rica, as they did for me?
AndrewKeymasterI may be mistaken but I thought the deadline to pay the marchamo was the end of December and that anybody who pays after that also faces a fine in addition to the amount owed for the marchamo.

AndrewKeymasterI believe that most people believe that the average Tico earns more than he actually does…
According to the October 2014 Costa Rica’s Social Security data, there are about 30,000 employees (this does not include business owners) in Costa Rica who are earning over USD$50,000 per year.
In our area the number of Porsche Cayennes, top-of-the-line Range Rovers, BMWs and other $100,000+ cars is truly amazing but overall the number of people making big bucks here is pretty small.

AndrewKeymasterHere’s the feedback from my friend Attorney Roger Petersen:
“Lawyers may charge a resident agent fee – that is the $150 indicated. The annual corporation tax for “inactive” is around $200 and if the lawyer is paying for the client then charge of around $50 to $75 are reasonable. However that is due in January so he will probably see and additional charge for that.
The shareholder meeting $250 and government stamp $100 – I don’t know about that depends what they are having the meeting for – Some Attorneys have the annual shareholder meeting and charge the client for that service.”
Roger
AndrewKeymasterFYI
These numbers sound a little on the high side to me but I’m trying to get confirmation from my attorney friends who are – like most people at this time of the year – enjoying themselves.
Will reply as soon as I hear back from one of them …

AndrewKeymasterAs the owner, it’s really up to you to negotiate the commission with the Realtor…
Typically Realtors will charge 5-10% of the sales price to sell a property for you.
5% is the standard sales commission but will rise to 10% when the property is in the middle of nowhere and the Realtor has to spend half a day taking the clint to see it and half a day getting back…
I’m of the opinion that if your Realtor is willing to do more than the ‘average’ Realtor like getting professional photos and videos done of a property then he/she deserves more than the ‘average’ commission.
Some of our Recommended Realtors have sent me really bad photos of properties once in a while but after they receive my email that says:
“Did you take these photographs with your calculator?”
They normally get the hint and don’t send me any more of those…
Hope that helps.
AndrewKeymasterAccording to La Refinadora Costarricense de Petróleo (Recope) gas prices will be going lower in January.
It’s probably safe to assume that any major decline in wholesale oil prices will take quite some time to be reflected at the pump as that cheaper oil probably has yet to be delivered.
I don’t know if this is still accurate but the last time I researched the taxes on gasoline in January of this year: “In Costa Rica, taxes make up about 37.74% of the price for regular gasoline. In the UK taxes make up 75% of the price and only about 11% in the US…. “
Hope that helps…

AndrewKeymasterIt doesn’t appeal to me either for the exact same reasons but I am hoping that it does appeal to the majority of people who like ‘normal’ stuff.
AndrewKeymasterIt’s been a few years since I last visited the Sarchi area…
You will certainly find a good selection of furniture in Sarchi and most of them will be happy to ship to the U.S., since exporting to the U.S. its a big chunk of their business.
