I do hope our VIP Members who are U.S. citizens have cleaned up their banking affairs here in Costa Rica – they have reported their accounts – because their accounts will be reported to the IRS.
The announcement below has been emailed to me in various formats by all the banks I do business with in Costa Rica.
Thankfully I am not a U.S. citizen (who must report their income every year and who must pay taxes on their worldwide income each year), I am British and the British tax regime is based on residency where you only pay taxes if you are resident in the UK for a specific amount of time each year.

I’m sure this is going to get ugly!
July 8, 2014 at 4:07 pm in reply to: Your retirement funds – Is it time to exit the stock market? #159095AndrewKeymaster
Sounds a lot like the DOT COM bubble all over…. companies putting out their IPOs… having a 500 million dollar market cap over night…. only to find they were nothing more than a “concept” involving a bunch of double talk run by two 23 year olds that used the word synergy an awful lot! Today most of those same folks are asking if you want fries with your order!
The stock market today is nothing more than a PONZI SCHEME with side betting. When the music stops it’s going to be nasty. Unfortunately with the current interest rate environment a lot of folks are dabbling in waters that they have no idea how deep and dangerous they have become!
Agreed! It’s a massive “pump and dump” program. High speed program trading makes up a RIDICULOUS amount of the volume and I personally exited the stock market in 1999 when I moved to Costa Rica.
AndrewKeymaster
Wankers…..LOVE that word! Wonder if Scott is a little torn on this World Cup! All my friends here in the States have been cheering along with me for Costa Rica….PURA VIDA!
It makes me feel good to see you here again Sue… I hope all is well with you.
I am certainly not “torn” 🙂 I used to box, swim and play rugby/cricket competitively at school and in the Royal Marine Commandos but have never had any interest in being a ‘fan’ or watching any sport.
I’m continually amazed at the ‘passion’ that so many people have for watching sports but it’s not for me …

AndrewKeymasterLet’s please try and keep this immigration thread related to Costa Rica OK.
AndrewKeymaster
I forgot the name of one theory regarding to overload the current system and when it becomes so overwhelmed the people clamor for the government to come in and provide a solution..
interesting
You’re referring to Problem-Reaction-Solution?
Where the politicians/Zioloonies controlling the U.S. government create the problem, they manage the reaction and then they offer up their solution?
By the way did you see this related story?
On January 29th of this year, the federal government posted an advertisement seeking bids for a vendor contract to handle 65,000 “Unaccompanied Alien Children“.

AndrewKeymasterNot sure I fully understand your comments Sprite…
Why would the feds be helping illegal alliens to enter the U.S?
Most of the illegal immigrants in Costa Rica come from Nicaragua and the number of Guatemalans here (apart from my wife) and Mexicans is very small indeed.
As for being able to “verify” illegal immigration, that’s got to be nigh on impossible.

AndrewKeymasterThe Costa Rica Meteorological website is here.
AndrewKeymasterWhat does that mean exactly?
You plan on “working” in San José as a delivery man or “working” as someone who cooks food on a truck?
You did not mention whether you are Costa Rican or have permission to work here but if not, are you familiar with the regulations on “working” here?
Please give us more information and we’ll try and point you in the right direction…
