One man´s mansion is another man´s privvy. That mansion listed was probably the finest home that he had ever owned. And we can only guess where he lived before he lived in Costa Rica. I have seen people who have inherited LOTS of money build-on to a single wide trailer with a beautiful mansion. It is all in their taste (or lack of it). Like the saying goes, even though the monkey wears a silk dress, it´s still a monkey.
AndrewKeymasterIf I’m not mistaken, Oconnor’s Irish Pub shares it’s kitchen with the Mexican Restaurant next door – ‘Nuff said…

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterHSBC is the 2nd or 3rd largest bank in the world, I think you’ll find it is a British bank, it’s certainly NOT Chinese
According to: http://www.banking.hsbc.com.my/my/aboutus/heri1865.htm
“The Group owes its origins to the business communities operating on the China coast in the 1860s. At that time, the local financial market was in its infancy. In the absence of professional banks, the European trading houses or ‘hongs’, which made substantial profits trading in tea, opium and silk carried by the famous clipper ships handled most trading transactions.
To address the need of the local businessmen for larger and more sophisticated facilities, the bank opened for business in Hong Kong on 3 March 1865 and a month later in Shanghai, on 3 April 1865 as The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. This is the founding member of the modern group from which the HSBC Group’s name is derived. Soon after its formation in Hong Kong and Shanghai, the bank rapidly established a network of agents and branches around the world.”

I am EXTREMELY concerned about the possible flood of Chinese investments in Costa Rica.
As a friend of mine Roy – who lives and works in China- recently stated:
“China has the worst record in the world for plant safety, pollution, negligence, abuse of the environment, etc. I have seen many Chinese chemical and petrochemical plants, I would refuse to live down wind of any of them let alone go inside.
I cannot think of a worse project for a beautiful country like Costa Rica.”

2. Hooters of course is in Plaza Itzkatsu opposite Hospital CIMA in EscazuThe two main expat places in Santa Ana are
3. Rock & Roll Pollos – Santa Ana
4. TexMex – Santa AnaI go to bars once every year (no kidding) so I’m not the best expert. I’m sure that our VIP Members will have lots of additional suggestions.

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterThere are excellent developments all over Costa Rica but as we can see every day in the newspaper, ‘negative’ news seems to carry a bit further.
As I’m sure you know, raw materials and labor invariably cost more in Guanacaste and on the Pacific coast than in the Central Valley so when you compare a quality home in both areas, the one in the Central Valley area will nearly always be of superior quality.
I recently visited the 300M2 home of a business acquaintance on the Pacific coast which he is selling for $575K (which was about the norm in his area) and I can assure you that the quality of construction is most definitely inferior to the exact same sized home that we bought a few months ago in Santa Ana for $310K

Don’t just love the way that the taxes are nearly as much as the actual fare?

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterTheir website states that “Flor de Itabo hotel is owned and operated by Italians who care about their guests.” It would appear from their wiring instructions which you can see at http://www.flordeitabo.com/descrip.html#Description that the owner is a man called ANGELO OLIVOTTI
We must remember that there is a very good reason casino companies can spend a BILLION dollars on a new casino and it’s not because their customers are winning it’s because the odds are very much in their favor …

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterGeorge Lundquist is the only one I know building out there… This is a fairly rural area with very few expats at this time so I don’t know how many people would be able to help you here but I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you …

Unfortunately I am hearing ‘off-the-record” that the current fines that are being imposed by the government on the contractor could well put an end to the contractor’s desire to even begin the project…

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterI looked into buying one of these for my vacation home in the mountains but was unable to find them in Costa Rica. That doesn’t mean they’re not here but I could not find them.
is a fantastic place for these kinds of items but goodness knows how much shipping and taxes would be to Costa Rica.
