Well I can tell you for sure Tom that we have not discussed this topic yet in our forum… Just as a matter of interest, how common is this condition in our four legged friends?

I am looking at the Soulea project – Only so many hours in the day and I’m working about 75% of them already ….

Just found a nice short video that has some great shots of this area at

There are dozens scumbag companies advertising land for sale in Costa Rica, many of them use what can only be called ‘deceptive advertising’ techniques to fool you into thinking you are buying something that you are not and they will try to hard-sell you to ‘buy now’ because:

    1. The new international airport is about to be built nearby or,
    2. The new highway which goes right past our proeprty will be finished soon or…
    3. Disneyland will be building their new theme park here or
    4. Bill Gates recently bought a huge tract of land here or
    5. The ‘insert-the-name-of-a-major-hotel-chain-here’ has recently bought 100 hecatres here and many, many more …

    Do your homework please!

The companies selling land in Costa Rica (nearly all Americans) send out hundreds of millions of emails per week (no kidding) but as far as we can see, NONE of them are experienced developers with a proven track record of building anything anywhere!

It’s going to be difficult for you to find a part-time part-timer 🙂

To find a maid though you could try a maids broker that we have used successfully – Her name is Virgina Alfaro – Tel 231-5140 296-7590

She charges a finder’s fee to find you a maid but gives you a guarantee that’s something along the line of ‘if you’re not happy after three months, she’ll find you another with no additional fee.’

This is indeed interesting as we are considering the Soulea project as a potential investment. Obviously any sort of moratorium would bring this project to a grinding halt.

Does anyone have knowledge and feedback on this development?

I have not personally visited the property but believe that they have up until now only sold lots to build on.

There is no source in Costa Rica that can give you this information.

You can get construction numbers from the Camara de Construccion (paid membership and personal interview/application required) but as for real estate appreciation is concerned in different areas, whomever you speak with (including me) would be guessing.

There are a couple of US/Canadian attorneys that I know personally here who have been through the very long process to become Costa Rica attorneys.

Needless to say, it’s one arduous way of learning the Spanish language.

You can see the Costa Rica Colegio de Abogados at

    Good luck.

PS. The marine park is certainly protected, the water is protected and the 50 meter zone of course.
