I MUST pay for cable TV in order to have my cable internet service and the most reliable cable TV company is Amnet

There are hundreds of channels available and certainly dozens and dozens of English language channels which you can see at

You can see their price list at

Cable TV is NOT available in many parts of the country in which case you may need to go for Direct TV for which I can not seem to find a site.

PS. Do you get “news” from those stations you mentioned?

I don’t believe it would be a mistake, I do believe that you should consult an attorney that would look out for YOUR best interests BEFORE doing so.

This company appears to have a very impressive track record and an incredible ‘pedigree’ and although I have visited that project, I have not met Henry yet but will do so next week to discuss some business.

Over the past 7 years, most of the items that I have received in Costa Rica from the USA have been opened. NONE of the items I have received from other countries have been opened.

Whilst living in the Cayman islands, (five years) practically everything I received there from the USA had been opened by the US “authorities,” especially couriered packages from FedEx and UPS.

People talk about “Big Brother” as if it’s something that will happen in the future, it’s been here for a long time folks and gets worse every day. We’ve got Big Brother’s much bigger brother already.

As you can see from “The [Bush] signing statement claims authority to open domestic mail without a warrant, and that would be new and quite alarming,” said Kate Martin, director of the Center for National Security Studies in Washington. (4th January 2007)

You can see more at one company’s website Aerocasillas

I receive TONS of books etc., from Amazon etc., through this method without a problem.

I doubt VERY much if you would be allowed to remove the car from the USA whilst still under a lease agreemenet.

This should be covered in your agreement which you might want to check.

I grew up in Africa and spent many years in Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Ghana and Liberia and the poverty in Africa simply doesn’t compare to what we see in Central America.

Seeing children who have been deliberately deformed (legs & arms horribly broken as babies) by their own parents so that they would look pitiful enough to beg in the streets for their family…

Watching children who have been trained to run in front of your car and get ‘run-over’ to then try and collect money from the driver (my Dad) is not fun…

And seeing bloated dead bodies in the gutters at the side of the streets when there was massive starvation going on in Northern Nigeria was not unusual at all.

The stock market and ‘life’ have so much in common… It goes from one extreme to another and then tries to find a middle before again testing extremes.

America is most definitely testing a number of extremes and there is no doubt in mind that there will be a societal ‘crash’ of some kind in the not so distant future.

Not my main patch I’m afraid GringoTico. I’m not one of those experts that claims to know everything about every single nook and cranny in the the entire country.

Having said that, I tend to recommend the ‘people’ behind specific projects rather than specififc areas so if you know of exceptional people building exceptional condos in Heredia, email me and tell me who they are and if time permits, we could look into it for our VIP Members…

I would encourage you to double-check and make sure you do not need specific permission to cut down theses trees. You don’t want to gibve any bureacrat an excuse NOT to give you the necessary permits/approvals that you will need in the future.

No Aliss does not… There are plenty of stores that sell appliances here. I bought a beautiful Whirlpool gas stove at ‘El Verdugo’ for about $1,100 a few months back. For gas stoves, please note that you may have to change the nipples for propane.

As always you can expect to pay more for imported items and less for locally made ‘Atlas’ appliances.

There is a stained glass store in Escazu Centro about 50 West of the ‘The Pub’ and I’m sure they could sell you supplies and/or tell you where you could find them.
