But what exactly does that mean? “Cancun/Hawaii type water?”
People come here because it’s Costa Rica and to see what Costa Rica has to offer…
If she wants crazy water, maybe you could put her on one of those white knuckle, white water rafting trips … Please send the photos to me 🙂
Why don’t you suggest that since you’re paying for this trip and you know Costa Rica quite well, that you get to surprise her and choose where you go in Costa Rica and then for the next trip to Hawaii, she can pay and organize everything. I think Hawaii is a bit more expensive no?

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterTicos like cash deals – They like to be paid in full – There are still many that do not trust banks and very few that would do owner financing and in the extremely unlikely event that they did – especially for a land deal – they would certainly want to retain title until it’s all paid off…
It’s secure for the buyer as long as you pay off the debt.
Ouur VIP Members have bought a lot of real estate over the years and we have NEVER been involved in a single ‘owner financed’ deal. And especially since the market is good here, I can only assume that most of the owner financed deals are with Gringo sellers selling something that nobody is really that interested in buying…
There are of course numerous US/Costa Rica hard-sell boiler room operations selling land with this kind of strategy – Pay a small deposit and finance the rest with the “developer” until you’ve paid it off and… helped him buy the property to begin with since they probably only have an option to buy. The risk with these deals is that the ‘gentlemen’ you’re buying the land from sometimes don’t actually own it yet and all you’re actually buying is a corporation that will ‘hopefully’ own the land at some time in the future.
Has anybody else out there seen owner financed deals in Costa Rica? I’d love to know too…

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterThe easiest and best way is to get yourself a long haired dictionary however, from your other posting about finding a romantic restaurant in Jaco for you and your girlfriend, maybe that’s not such a good idea in this case.
I have heard good things about the Rosetta Stone programs but have not actually used it…
Reading Spanish newspapers EVERY day without fail will teach you more than you can imagine (without realizing it) and no matter where you are in the US, you gottta’ be able to find them.
I would also recommend you watch all DVDs with the Spanish subtitles turned on.
Having said all that, although everybody tells me my Spanish great, it doens’t feel ‘great’ to me!

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterAbsolutely not! You pay for the the whole thing and the rest of the owners get it for free? I’m sure that would make the seller and the new owners very happy but that’s absurd.
This would be considered basic infrastructure costs which the developer (not ICE – the “electricity department”) should pay for and and then he would then recoup his investment as he sells lots to the new owners. ICE would be responsible for maintenance and not the developer.
All of this should have been clearly understood and put in writing BEFORE you bought the lot.
One last thing, the cost of the transformer seems a tad high so I am assuming that includes installation yes?

I have friends renting for $3,000 per month and others renting for c90,000 per month (US$173)
You will just have to take a good walk around because unfortunately, I know of no real estate agent that will help you in this market segment but, the deals can be had!

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterI did know a good place in SJO but that closed years ago, there was also a place in Santa Ana which also closed.
Anybody else make a suggestion for a good BBQ place that’s in business today?
Do I smell an ‘opportunity’ here?

You copied someone’s posting which is NOT allowed on this site or most sites and then – more importantly – you included that information in your newsletter and included the author who had specifically asked you NOT to do that.
This is not my “small kingdom” it’s a business where we have certain rules to protect the privacy of our VIP Members and prevent people from copying the work of any writers.
Topic finished – NO more please!

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterYeah! I’m not sure if Parrita is a great place to be lotus:
1. Major earthquake fault line
2. Surfers get eaten by crocodiles there and
3. Prone to floodingApart from that it’s perfect! 🙂
But don’t tell me, there’s a new “international airport” coming to Parrita soon to cater to the 398 residents and the “new superhighway” from New York City that they are about to build ends there.
ONLY KIDDING!
AndrewKeymasterJeez! jneiman – I know Jaco is not for everyone but has it deteriorated that much in the past few months since I was last there or is it actually improving?

AndrewKeymasterSo GringoTico – Are you saying that if you were to write a book about ‘How To Build a Bamboo House in Costa Rica Without Losing Your Camisa” it would be a very, very, very thin book?

Getting away from people like Charlie McCormack.

The reason why I go to places like Costa Rica, Turks & Caicos etc. is to get away from the bleeding heart embelishing liberal agenda. The fact that some folks like Charles McCormack go to Paradise and realize they don’t have and never had a real life doesn’t give them the right to over simplify the issues and use a platform like this as their soap box.AndrewKeymasterNobody is kicking anybody off Jenny but you are definitely way out of line on this one.

For the average tourist, I would not recommend walking back.
