The information that I retained from the Chicago branch of the Costa Rica office said that all new applicants to have to fall into the new guide lines. The law is in place but the money is not alloted to enforcemnt for other aspects of the new law.So if you are a new applicant for residency you will have to meet the $120,000 per couple plus $30,000 for each additional family memeber.

Just want to tell everyone how pleased I am with the way our reservation for car rental was handled. My husband was diagnosed with colon cancer on the 25th of Sept. had surgery on the 27 and will not be able to travel for some time. I notifed Dean and was given full credit without any penalty for one year. I could not be happier. Thanks to all!AndrewKeymasterAs you will see from our ‘Costa Rica Salaries’ article from June 2006 at few people make that kind of money in Costa Rica.
According to La Nacion dated 12th September 2005 “El salario base de los docentes del sector público es de ¢127.000 al mes. Sin embargo, los incentivos permiten a estos servidores alcanzar un ingreso promedio mensual de ¢425.000 (334% más).”
Meaning the base salary of teachers in the public sector is c127,000 per month (US$243) but with the permissable incentives a hard working teacher can earn as much as c425,000 per month – At c522:US$1 that is $814 per month.
I would have thought she should have been thrilled to receive $300-$500 per month but perhaps she has her eyse on the newe Mercedes.

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterMy point remains the same: “Most people that have been here for a few years will rightly advise you to avoid – like the plague – getting involved in any legal process in Costa Rica.”
So, if you feel that there is a higher than average probability of foreclosure, I would suggest that you avoid entering into that transaction to begin with…

Your feedback in this forum is greatly appreciated.
Just so you know – I will only delete “commercial posts” and “bloody silly” postings and “edit” embarassing typos and “move” postings that have been placed in the wrong place.
I have yet to delete a “controversial” posting including some OUTRAGEOUSLY defamatory and legally slanderous accusations that have been made against me personally – which can still be found in this forum.
Best wishes

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterI am happy to inform you that I have a terrific Doctor in Costa Rica for you to talk to… Dr. Eduardo Loyola is completely bilingual and one of the most caring physicians I have ever met…
Why do I like him so much? Simple… He looked after my old Mum better than anyone ever has before. As she said in her very Scottish accent: “It’s a shame I have to come all the way to a developing country in Central America to get the first world treatment that I should have been getting in England.”
Dr. Loyola is a busy Doctor so please bear that in mind when you email him at: drloyola@racsa.co.cr
He may not be the man that does the actual surgery for you (can’t remember what he specializes in) but he will know who should be talking to and just as importantly, who you should NOT be talking to…

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterYou would have to rent a cellular telephone while you are here.
In searching the internet I see http://www.cellphonescr.com/ but I have no idea how good they may/may not be…

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterThe only people that I know who regularly make money with foreclosures are A: Attorneys and B: Those same attorneys that know their specific geographical area like the back of their hand.
I know one gringo who claims he’s making money with foreclosures but I also know for a fact that his attorney is making a lot more than him and he doesn’t even know it.
Most people that have been here for a few years will rightly advise you to avoid – like the plague – getting involved in any legal process in Costa Rica.

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterI believe it is six months but since I am not a Costa Rican attorney, you may wish to verify that with another attorney…

WeLoveCostarica.comAndrewKeymasterThanks Bill. I think this topic has been covered pretty thoroughly now. I understand your friends had a negative experience and I am sorry that happened but as you can see from this forum, there are quite a few people who have also had very positive experiences.
Having said that, I will ask Dean personally to make a very special effort to ensure that we always have much more positive than negative in the future.

WeLoveCostaRica.comAndrewKeymasterForgive me Bill but I’m a bit confused here
In trying to find out exactly what’s going on here, Dean Krieg tells me that you have never even rented a car from him?
Have you rented a car from him or not?
