WeLoveCostaRica.comAs fas I understand it, the “safety” offered by the different state banks is the same so your decision would then be based on service and on the geographical location of their branches
Unfortunately good ‘service’ is difficult to find even with the private bankers that I tend to work with never mind the state banks.
I advise my investment clients to keep six months worth of cash living expenses inside Costa Rica, the rest is safely invested ‘offshore.’
I love Costa Rica and it’s people but it’s still a small Central American country that some people call a Less Developed Country (LDC).

1. ‘infoman’ has had his membership cancelled for spreading defamatory like news without backing it up with facts – and refusing to answer my polite emails requesting more information. He may be partially correct, but without data to back up his claims, we cannot allow that type of stuff here.
2. ‘brookek,’ the anonymous female who claimed to be working for the marketing company for Costa Developers had a great opportunity to set the record straight here except she couldn’t even remember to tell us her name and exactly ‘who’ she is and ‘what’ she does for Costa Developers. And she uses a distinguished Hotmail email address so goodness knows who she really is…

WeLoveCostaRica.comYou have indeed chosen a business idea that would involved all sorts of wonderful government agencies and a zillion different legal requirements.
You would be best advised to speak to a qualified attorney about this and should you need one, I would be happy to recommend one.
As far as handicapped requirements are concerned, it’s not quite like the USA but they are catching on here and making buses more handicapped friendly for example…
I remember reading about a lawsuit in Massachusetts in the US where people who were travelling around the USA with a mock-up of a slave ship to show how horrible the conditions were that the slaves had to endure and they were sued because the slave ships were not considered to be “wheelchair accessible.”
I was then, and am now speechless.
