Thanks for bringing that up, it’s amazing how many people do not take this into consideration at the beach.

The wear and tear of the humidity and salt air at the beach on cars, stereos, your computer, refigerators and even electrical wiring can be significant.

    Be prepared!

Prefer the goat idea so that you can have some good cheese while you’re at it but doesn’t PriceSmart have these? (Not the goats…)

PS. I make a mean goat curry from the frozen goat they have in AutoMercado

If it is true ‘infoman’ – I am sure that it is a very serious problem indeed. Can you please show us a source when we can see this news?

I was in Costa Rica twice this year, both times I rented from Dean’s company, my experience couldn’t be better, my vehicle worked fine, the price/the deposit/and the cars are just a very good deal. Diego/Dean’s asst in Costa Rica is very professional, always on time and his cell phone is always on for any need “we” the customers might have.I’m planning my next trip for December and I will be renting from Dean’s again. I would definately recommend his company to anyone. Adriana Jenkins/Palo Alto/ California. Adriana_jenkins@hotmail.com

As the name suggest, Vacation City is a Costa Rican travel firm and most professional buyers agents or Costa Rica real estate sales professionals don’t run travel firms of course…

On their site, they say that “We have carefully selected the best and most knowledgeable realtors in each of the destination areas…”

    This clearly means that:

A: Vacation City obviously refers business to other people and
B: They are definitely NOT “buyer side real estate agents.”

    Best wishes

Times may have changed but a few years ago, one of my writers and I spent months doing research for a substantial crime report and we could NOT find any crime figures published for Panama anywhere so we were unable to draw any relevant comparisons.

As for the weather being too hot in Panama… I think 99% of the people I have spoken to agree with that. The problem with weather is that you have it every day 🙂 – 365 days per year and air conditioning/energy costs are only going to go higher.

Personally, I hate air conditioning and love the fact that the weather where I am in the Central Valley of Costa Rica is the most perfect weather I have ever had the pleasure of living in…

As our VIP Members know, I gladly recommend professional services and products when I or our VIP Members have had good experiences.

However, when we hear of very bad very BAD personal experiences, we will happily warn people too.

I personally rented from these http://www.bodegasamerica.com/ people some years ago and had a TOTALLY DISGUSTING and EXTREMELY INSULTING experience with them.

I would recommend that you only do business with http://www.bodegasamerica.com/ “if” you have discovered that every other storage facility in the country is already full and enjoy being treated like pondscum.

PS. Unless the company has changed hands since that time, the owner is an American so we can’t blame the Ticos for bad service.

    1. The link you give does not work koty
    2. 20 miles from Boquete is in the middle of nowhere
    3. If you are willing to look at similar areas in Costa Rica for example – 20 miles from Cartago, Liberia or San Isidro, you’ll be able to find hundreds of new homes selling for this sort of price.
    4. I personally had a lovely new vacation home built only 40 minutes from Cartago which cost about the same.

The grass is not necessarily greener on the other side. Take your time and look around and I think you will find good deals in Costa Rica just as you would in Panama.

My original point though was that we must compare ‘apples to apples.’

That’s a very vague statement – “It was a lot cheaper” than what exactly?

How much land exactly? Where was it exactly? Were utilties already in place?

Let’s compare apples to apples shall we?

    Please tell us!

    1. Thanks for the ´heads-up´ telephone call Bill
    2. This site has also committed the sin of using the Realtor word in the past and we try to keep it straight however, when one is marketing on the internet, if you don´t use the word ´Realtor´ then you won´t get the necessary ´traffic´ for the keyword. Needless to say most of the traffic for ´Costa Rica Realtor´ probably goes to sites that do not have any qualified Realtors working with them.

I´ll be back in my home office on Friday afternoon after we finish horseriding around the Arenal volcano.

PS. I´m at the foot of Arenal volcano and the internet speed & access is bloody awful…
