I’m sure you would be able to deal with the developer directly but he probably wants his marketing people to handle that end of things things for him anyway so he can focus all his time and energy on getting things built.

And a lot of the time, the marketing people will know more about what you care about than the ‘nuts & bolts’ guy anyway.

Having said that, I am obviously helping the developers that I know and trust to get their name out there but the last thing in the world I want to do is actually sell real estate. But I am happy to recommend good people that do sell real estate.

It’s amazing! Having been here for seven years, there are still only about a dozen real estate professionals that I recommend in the entire country. That’s not to say the rest are crap but, the overall standards – for both knowledge about real estate and service – could be higher he said diplomatically.

All I know about them is what I have seen on their site… They look more like a marketing organization than a real estate development company.

Sounds like you’re thinking of Charles and Jeanetta’s place which you can see at

They are about 40 minutes from the airport.

Regarding use of sustainable materials in buildings. I noticed an ad from an outfit called Source Tropical listed in the Tico Times. Apparently they are from Hawaii but now working in Costa Rica. I have no knowledge of their work but they have an interesting website: http://www.sourcetropical.com

Don’t think you’re hearing it right?

I don’t know of any attorney in Costa Rica that would prefer to be paid his % based on the lowest possible $ amount rather than the sales price.

Please see by attorney Roger Petersen

That’s not quite factual. They have not yet even determined the costs associated with building a new international airport so, we may say that they have certainly announced a ‘plan’ to build a new airport but, they have definitely NOT announced that they WILL be building a new airport.

You may wish to take a look at my article entitled “Costa Rica’s New International Airport to be Built in the Sierpe Valley – Maybe…” Which you can see at:

I have seen nothing that would suggest that Arias is “pursuing this” and can assure you that nothing is a “given” in Costa Rica, especially projects that will cost HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of dollars.

I am happy to inform you that I have a terrific Doctor in Costa Rica for you to talk to… Dr. Eduardo Loyola is completely bilingual and one of the most caring physicians I have ever met…

Why do I like him so much? Simple… He looked after my old Mum better than anyone ever has before.

As she said in her very Scottish accent: “It’s a shame I have to come all the way to a developing country in Central America to get the first world treatment that I should have been getting in England.”

Dr. Loyola works out of CIMA, he is a busy Doctor so please bear that in mind when you email him at: drloyola@racsa.co.cr

    Dr. Eduardo H. Loyola, MD.
    Medical Director
    Servicios Médicos Loyola S.A.
    drloyola@racsa.co.cr

    Office Phone: 506-208-1618
    Office Fax: 506-208-1638
    Cel: 506-392-7703 (On 24 Hours)
    Apdo 1091-1100 Tibás
    San José, Costa Rica

Eduardo may not be the one to do the procedure, but he will know who you should be consulting with and more importantly, he knows who you should NOT be consulting with if you know what I mean…

Please let us know how you get on.

Please talk directly with a professional veterinarian about this, the welfare of your dog depends on it:

You can see Dr. Molina’s telephone number in the article here

I believe that it’s much easier to bring a dog here than take one back to the USA but PLEASE don’t listen to our opinions – Talk to the veterinarian for the up to date facts.

Thank YOU too. I am thrilled that we have so many incredibly intelligent people who take time out of their day to give their feedback in this forum. There are some remarkable people living here in this quite remarkable country.

I do have a few different ideas about how to generate some income on the site but, the best laid plans of mice and men… For example writing and selling a book about Costa Rica real estate.

We’re selling a lot of books on Amazon but since I’m British and have not lived in the US for a zillion years and don’t have a US bank account, I have to route all my sales income through my ex-wife’s US bank account and she keeps it for my two wonderful children…

Printing thousands of books per year and shipping them to the US costs a few pennies… Maybe one day, when I’m all grown up, I’ll be able to keep a little bit too… 🙂 Maybe with the next updated DIGITAL version of my book.

PS. Your name brings back lots of wonderful memories as I was in love with a Debbie for many, many years.

Thanks goodness for the common sense that’s not so common.

Thank you – all of you – for helping me try to help educate and protect prospective real estate buyers in Costa Rica (our future neighbours perhaps) but, I have to tell you…

I have just about run out of energy trying to help “educate and protect” people about the common sense precautions one should take.

“Educating” and “protecting” may be a noble cause but, after a couple of YEARS doing this, it has become apparent that I can’t spend HOURS and HOURS per day helping others if they A: Don’t want to listen and B: Don’t want to be helped and it’s costing me a fortune!

But there’s nearly 1,000 articles on the site now so hopefully some people will read the advice and pay attention to it.

    Asi es la vida!

Please read ‘Costa Rica Healthcare for Military Veterans’ by John Cantrell which you will find at John’s telephone number is listed at the bottom…

Getting Meds mailed to you here is easy even if the company you deal with does not mail outside the USA. All you need is a USA mail forwarding address. One popular company you could look at is Aerocasillas. You can see their Costa Rica address information at

    Ben and Carol

Thank you for your very kind comments…

I have some sort of “understanding” about a “woman’s attachment to jewelry” and in years gone by, bought a frightening amount of jewelry, primarily at Tiffany’s New York for my wife (ex) when I was making the big bucks on Wall Street… Could buy a nice home in Costa Rica with what I spent on jewelry in those years…

I would suggest that you keep your 3-4 favourite pieces with you and store the rest ‘back home.” It’s just something else to worry about while you’re here. FREE yourself of that ‘concern’, you’ll feel a lot better and you can focus on enjoying your new lives here…

Would love to be able to give you sensible investment advice but, out of the nearly one thousands offshore hedge funds that I work with … Exactly NONE of them will do business with Americans.

    Best wishes

    Scott

PS. Yes! My lady wife kept the jewelry, the house in Westchester and everything else but that’s OK. I left the marriage with $400 in total to my name and it’s been great!

PPS. You gotta’ explain “jughead” to me …. Please!

I am actually discussing this topic with three different financial institutions and will report back with our findings but David has summed it up well…

Whomever you deal with will be significantly more expensive that getting a mortgage “back home” and, there’s a LOT of paperwork

If you can’t get a mortgage “back home” you probably won’t get one here…

    Scott

David: I would be very grateful if you would email me your findings so I can see where we overlap…
