In defense of any company that employs a LOT of salespeople, some are not as ‘professional’ as others… Especially when they feel they have just lost a sale.

I would be happy to examine this with anyone willing to email me their details.

All I need is the real name of ravis, the name of the entity that owns the land and the folio real number of the property and we’ll take it from there…

    Best wishes

You will find dogs on many beaches, some with owners and some not and I have only ever encountered friendly animals at the beach…

My concern would be the health of those dogs and how their bugs, saliva etc., might harm my dog so please make sure your dog has all the protection and vaccinations it should have.

Please check the facts with your ‘internationally aware’ accountant but I believe if you are a fully legal resident of Costa Rica and have been living outside the USA for a specific period – the first $80K of your non-US wages/salary income is exempt from US taxes. Please understand that exemption applies to your wage earnings and not interest income or capital gains….

That would be $80K for you and $80K for your wife and believe me you can live extremely well on $80K in Costa Rica

But again, please check these facts with your ‘internationally aware’ accountant.

PS. Giving up citizenship is really no longer much of an option as far as taxes are concerned as the IRS reserves the right to tax you for a period of ten years if THEY feel that you have given up your citizenship for tax reasons.

There is a short article about a weekend trip made to the Orosi Valley at along with a link to the website of the hotel we stayed at….

It is a gorgeous area and I like the little town of Orosi too…

I respect dkt2u’s opinions but vehemently disagree with his politics also however as we all know, this forum is about Costa Rica so let’s “play nicely” and keep our focus on Costa Rica.

Best wishes from your amigo …

I agree and have had the same irritating experience on a couple of occasions

Please give me a few days to look into it… And bear in mind that it’s a BIG public holiday here (Semana Santa) until next Tuesday and even then not many people will be working too hard.

Except that the Chomsky pieces paint a catastrophically negative picture about the USA… Let’s hope they’re both way off the mark!

Manny Crow sounds like a very young person and I can’t seem to find anything else that he has written on the internet…

The crime numbers for the poorest parts of San Jose are not attractive but then again the crime numbers for the poorest parts of any major city are not attractive.

Retired Americans (USA now has over 2 million people in prison so there’a few criminals there too) are not planning on living their retirement in a corrugated tin shack in the worst slums of a small Central American country

And one of his first sentences states “Every time I’ve gone to Costa Rica I’ve had a ball. The weather is great; the beaches lovely.”

Great roads would be nice for sure but there is one thing that Panama will never have much of… Costa Ricans!

And the people are a HUGE reason why I love living here.

Not sure what “most desired” means but aren’t there a LOT more foreign retirees here in Costa Rica rather than in Panama?

I’m assuming one of the reasons the Americans chose Costa Rica for their largest embassy in Central America is because they felt it was most appropiate for their needs…

There is a popular newsletter that promotes Panama and Nicaragua and they have been very successful in attracting the traditional media to check out their stories. “Most desired” is easy to say but hardly a scientific quantity that easily measured.

At the end of the day though, actions speak louder than words and from what I can see, many people do visit Panama, Nicaragua and Belize to ‘consider’ retiring there but far more end up choosing Costa Rica… Therefore, I would suggest that Costa Rica is “most desired.”

    Great feedback dkt2u

I hear the same stories every week. There is a man (North American) I know who is selling land near Tamarindo saying that there is water on the property when he KNOWS there is not. And without water, the buyer will not get a permit to build so… He too will have an “elephant”.

BUYER BEWARE! And again, PLEASE don’t blame Costa Rica! 90% of the “unscrupulous” land deals we hear about are Americans and NOT Costa Ricans.
