Yes! I’m afraid the “show” was not quite what we were led to believe… Had you blinked, you would indeed have missed it.

And oh! Boy! Who on earth wrote the trailers for the “show” that said:

“A gold rush in a tropical island”

“We’ll take you to the island getaway.”

They had specifically requested that kind of very upscale property and after spending so many hours with them, it’s a shame they chose to include the least important statements that I made about Costa Rica real estate.

Also a shame they failed to mention that I wrote the only book in existence (for the time being I’m sure) about how to buy Costa Rica real estate which is why they contacted me to begin with&.

I was kind of hoping that for once, I might strike it lucky and get some really good publicity. Just shows you how bloody stupid I am eh?

On a side note, I don’t watch television and was shocked in seeing this “show” and how manically, hyperactive television seems to be.

There were thousands of images here and there flashing on and off the screen and at the end of that little segment about Costa Rica real estate, what exactly did the viewer actually learn?

    Not much!

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT defamation and libel are CRIMINAL offences in Costa Rica and NOT civil offences. If your email ends up in the WRONG hands, meaning the attorneys that you do not like – you could be facing VERY serious problems…

You’re only going to get guesses to this question because nobody can really point to any accurate data to back up their estimates… And without knowing the area you are talking about, I certainly can’t even “guess.”

    “Different horses for different courses.”

I prefer the mountains to the beach, and peace and quiet to clubs and bars anyday but, many people love that …

Jaco is very much a party town and I can assure you that this weekend and next weekend Jaco will be absolutely HOPPING with the big Easter vacation week festivities … And some people like that kind of an environment.

And don’t forget it is a big attraction for surfers too…

Not sure I understand your question… You certainly don’t need $50,000 to buy a corporation here or are you buying a an active comapny in existence for US$50,000?

There are a LOT of dental technology companies here including Align which has a huge presence here… and yes! I know a number of good attorneys but depends on what you’re trying to do…

    Well – I am stunned!

Just watched the very short section on Costa Rica real estate and was STUNNED to hear them refer to Costa Rica as an “island” in the trailers for that segment.

After spending so many hours with them, it’s a shame they chose to include the least important statement that I made about Costa Rica real estate.

    Go figure!

I should point out that this CNBC show is about Costa Rica real estate and certainly not about me… The Mike Hegedus interview with me will probably be no longer than five minutes of the actual show…

Mike Hegedus told me that they did do interviews with other people too so hopefully they will give a realistic and broad view of the Costa Rica real estate market…

I’m not sure what you mean when you ask me “what books” I have written about…

I have written only two books, the first one about investing and the second one about Costa Rica real estate

Not sure how you would make money importing clothing to Costa Rica, there would be quite a bit of competition for you no matter where you are…

I’m assuming that you are a legal resident of Costa Rica though dkt2u – For non-legal residents, I can assure you that opening bank accounts is not easy, especially for US citizens…

It might be important to note that although I love this website, it is free and as such, does not contribute too much to the bottom line.

My profession is that of a Wall Street trained and qualified investment advisor and in that capacity for 20 years, I have helped my clients to invest about $750 million in securities and offshore funds alone (quite a bit in real estate too…) so along with battalions of attorneys and accountants, we have helped MANY very wealthy people open bank accounts in quite a few countries.

It is not easy now and it’s not getting any easier!

dkt2u brings up some good points and I know of a few cases where Americans working here illegally were reported to the immigration authoritites …

As an example, a real estate agent working WITHOUT the correct residency was reported to the authorities by other local US real estate agents who were working here legally and paying the taxes they should be paying (which few real estate agents do…)

Was this jealousy? Selfishness? I don’t think so… You either play the game by the rules or you get sent off the field, right?

I am British, living and working here legally and plough all of my income back into Costa Rica and yes, I will be paying a lot more in taxes this year.

Americans that are here “illegally” are certainly “no better” than Nicaraguans who are here illegally (the US Constitution also agrees saying “All men are created equal”) but, I don’t know of any Americans that come here with catastrophic ilnesses and take advantage of the emergency health care system as many people accuse the Nicaraguans of doing.

If I was a poor Nicaraguan, I would do the same.
